We will certainly do everything we said we would: We will burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and will pour out drink offerings to her just as we and our ancestors, our kings and our officials did in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. At that time we had plenty of food and were well off and suffered no harm.

We will certainly do everything we said we would. We’ll burn incense to the female god called the Queen of Heaven. We’ll pour out drink offerings to her. We’ll do just as we and our people of long ago have done. Our kings and our officials also did it. All of us did it in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem. At that time we had plenty of food. We were well off. We didn’t suffer any harm.

But we will do everything that we have vowed, make offerings to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her, as we did, both we and our fathers, our kings and our officials, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food, and prospered, and saw no disaster.

We will do whatever we want. We will burn incense and pour out liquid offerings to the Queen of Heaven just as much as we like— just as we, and our ancestors, and our kings and officials have always done in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For in those days we had plenty to eat, and we were well off and had no troubles!

Instead, we will do everything we promised: we will burn incense to the queen of heaven and offer drink offerings to her just as we, our ancestors, our kings, and our officials did in Judah’s cities and in Jerusalem’s streets. Then we had enough food, we were well off, and we saw no disaster,

But we will certainly carry out every word that has proceeded from our mouths, by burning sacrifices to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, just as we ourselves, our forefathers, our kings, and our leaders did in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then we had plenty of food and were well off and saw no misfortune.

But we will certainly do whatever has gone out of our own mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. 孩子拾柴，父親點火，婦人揉麵做餅向天后獻祭，向別的神明奠酒，惹我發怒。

我們的王、首領、祭司和祖先沒有遵行你的律法，也沒有留心聽從你的誡命和你給他們的警告。

但如果你們親口許了願，一定要向你們的上帝耶和華信守諾言。

他們的母親淫亂放蕩，厚顏無恥，她說，『我要跟隨我的情人，他們給我食物和水、羊毛和麻布、油和酒。』因此，我要用荊棘圍堵她，築牆阻斷她的去路。她要追隨情人，卻追不上；尋找情人，卻找不到。於是，她說，『我倒不如回到丈夫身邊，我從前的光景比現在還好。』她不知道是我給她五穀、新酒和油，又賜給她大量金銀——她卻用這些供奉巴力。因此，到了收割和釀酒的季節，我要收走我的五穀和新酒，奪回我給她遮體的羊毛和麻布。

「我們還不如當初在埃及就死在耶和華手中。在那裡，我們至少可以圍在肉鍋旁吃個飽。現在，你把我們帶到曠野來，是要叫全體會眾餓死在這裡嗎？」

以色列的上帝——萬軍之耶和華說，『你們和你們的妻子曾許願向天后燒香奠酒，並且身體力行。你們繼續還所許的願吧！』

倘若她丈夫得知的當天加以反對，她的諾言就無效。耶和華必不追究她，因為她丈夫反對。

他們把他們的上帝耶和華的誡命拋諸腦後，鑄造了兩個金牛犢，還造了亞舍拉神像。他們祭拜巴力和天上的萬象，

他女兒說：「父親啊，你既然向耶和華許了願，就照你許的願對待我吧！因為耶和華幫你打敗了敵軍亞捫人，為你報了仇。

「你們和你們的祖先、君王、官長及其他所有百姓在猶大各城和耶路撒冷的街上燒香，耶和華豈不記得，豈能遺忘？

耶路撒冷的房屋和猶大君王的宮殿將被玷污，像陀斐特一樣，因為他們在房頂向天上的萬象燒香，向別的神明奠酒。』」

他們的神就是自己的肚腹，他們以自己的羞恥為榮，只想著地上的事，他們的結局是滅亡。

「『然而，他們卻背叛我，不聽我的話，沒有除去他們祭拜的可憎之物和埃及的偶像。我本想在埃及向他們發烈怒，傾倒我的怒火，

所以，在很久以前，事情還沒有發生時就向你預言這些事，免得你說這些是你的偶像做的，是你雕刻和鑄造的偶像命定的。

王聽了這個請求，感到十分為難，但因為在賓客面前起了誓言，就不好拒絕。

「倘若人在什麼事上向耶和華許願或起誓，他就不可食言，必須履行諾言。

他們說：「我們必靠舌頭制勝，嘴唇是我們自己的，誰管得著我們？」

我們跟祖先一樣也犯了罪，行事邪惡。

因為他們背棄我，給別的神明燒香，製造偶像惹我發怒，我的怒火要在這地方燃燒，絕不止息。

難道你們忘記了你們的祖先、猶大列王及其嬪妃，以及你們自己和妻子在猶大和耶路撒冷街上的惡行嗎？

他們必放火焚城，把城中的房屋付之一炬，城中的居民曾在房頂上向巴力燒香、向假神奠酒，惹我發怒。以色列人和猶大人從一開始就行我視為惡的事，他們的所作所為惹我發怒。這是耶和華說的。這城自從建立以來一直惹我發怒，以致我不得不毀滅它。以色列和猶大的君王、首領、祭司、先知、百姓和耶路撒冷居民的惡行令我怒不可遏。

要知道，你們從傳統的、沒有意義的生活中被救贖出來，不是靠金銀等會朽壞的東西，

我們犯罪作惡，行為邪惡叛逆，偏離你的誡命和典章，沒有聽從你的僕人——眾先知奉你的名向我們的君王、首領、先祖及國中百姓所說的話。主啊，你是公義的，我們今日滿面羞愧，我們猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民，以及因對你不忠而被驅散到遠近各地的以色列人都滿面羞愧。主啊，我們和我們的君王、首領、先祖因得罪了你而滿臉羞愧。
