我必使巴忒羅荒涼，也必在瑣安點起火來，又向挪施行審判。

我在答比匿折斷埃及眾軛的時候，白晝就必變為黑暗；埃及所誇耀的勢力必在其中止息；這城必有密雲遮蓋，城中的居民必被擄去。

我必使埃及被擄的人歸回，使他們歸回自己根源之地巴忒羅，在那裡他們必成為低微的國。

我必在埃及點起火來；訓必有大痛苦；挪必被攻破；挪弗必終日受難。

挪弗人和答比匿人也剃光了你的頭頂。

相反地，加利亞的兒子約哈難和眾將領卻率領猶大所有餘剩的人，就是那些從被趕逐到各國回來住在猶大地的，包括男人、女人、孩童和王的眾公主，以及護衛長尼布撒拉旦留給沙番的孫子、亞希甘的兒子基大利管理的眾人，還有耶利米先知和尼利亞的兒子巴錄，把他們都帶進埃及地，去到答比匿，沒有聽從耶和華的話。在答比匿耶和華的話臨到耶利米，說：

這樣，猶大餘剩的人哪，你們現在要聽耶和華的話！萬軍之耶和華以色列的神這樣說：‘你們若決意去埃及，到那裡寄居，你們懼怕的刀劍必在埃及地追上你們；你們恐懼的饑荒必在埃及緊隨著你們；你們必死在那裡。所有決意去埃及，在那裡寄居的人，必因刀劍、饑荒和瘟疫而死；他們沒有一人能倖存，或避過我降在他們身上的災禍。’“因為萬軍之耶和華以色列的神這樣說：‘我從前怎樣把我的怒氣和烈怒傾倒在耶路撒冷的居民身上，現在你們進入埃及的時候，我也必照樣把我的烈怒傾倒在你們身上。你們就必成為令人驚駭、被人咒罵、咒詛和羞辱的對象。你們必不能再看見這地方。

所以我必與你和你的河為敵；我必使埃及地，從密奪到色弗尼，直到古實邊界，都全然荒涼廢棄。

住在埃及的人民哪！要為自己預備被擄時所需的器物；因為挪弗必成為荒場，必被燒毀，無人居住。
