Azariah son of Hoshaiah and Johanan son of Kareah and all the arrogant men said to Jeremiah,“ You are lying! The Lord our God has not sent you to say,‘ You must not go to Egypt to settle there.’

After that, Azariah, the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan, the son of Kareah, spoke to Jeremiah. And all the proud men joined them. They said,“ You are lying! The Lord our God hasn’t sent you to speak to us. He hasn’t told you to say,‘ You must not go to Egypt and make your homes there.’

Azariah the son of Hoshaiah and Johanan the son of Kareah and all the insolent men said to Jeremiah,“ You are telling a lie. The Lord our God did not send you to say,‘ Do not go to Egypt to live there,’

Azariah son of Hoshaiah and Johanan son of Kareah and all the other proud men said to Jeremiah,“ You lie! The Lord our God hasn’t forbidden us to go to Egypt!

then Azariah son of Hoshaiah, Johanan son of Kareah, and all the other arrogant men responded to Jeremiah,“ You are speaking a lie! The LORD our God has not sent you to say,‘ You must not go to Egypt to stay there for a while!’

Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the arrogant men said to Jeremiah,“ You are telling a lie! The Lord our God has not sent you to say,‘ You are not to enter Egypt to reside there’;

that Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men spoke, saying to Jeremiah,“ You speak falsely! The Lord our God has not sent you to say,‘ Do not go to Egypt to dwell there.’

then spake Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: Jehovah our God hath not sent thee to say, Ye shall not go into Egypt to sojourn there;

then Azariah son of Hoshaiah, Johanan son of Kareah, and all the other arrogant men responded to Jeremiah,“ You are speaking a lie! The Lord our God has not sent you to say,‘ You must not go to Egypt to live there for a while!’

Then spake Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: the LORD our God hath not sent thee to say, Go not into Egypt to sojourn there:

Then Azariah son of Hoshaiah, Johanan son of Kareah, and other arrogant men said to Jeremiah,“ You are telling a lie! The LORD our God did not send you to tell us,‘ You must not go to Egypt and settle there.’

then Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men spoke, saying to Jeremiah,“ You speak falsely. Yahweh our God has not sent you to say,‘ You shall not go into Egypt to live there;’

以法蓮的首都是撒瑪利亞，撒瑪利亞的首領是利瑪利的兒子；六年五年之內以法蓮一定破敗、不能成為一族之民：你們若不信靠，一定不能牢靠。」』

他們就到米斯巴去見基大利；去的有尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利、加利亞的兩個兒子約哈難和約拿單、單戶篾的兒子西萊雅、尼陀法人以斐的兒子們、和瑪迦人的兒子耶撒尼亞：這些人和他們屬下的人。

眾將軍和加利亞的兒子約哈難、跟何沙雅的兒子亞撒利雅以及眾民、從小的到大的、都進前來，

並且呢，尼布甲尼撒王曾叫他指着上帝來起誓，他也背叛了那王；硬着脖子，心裏頑固，不歸向永恆主以色列的上帝。

他們否認永恆主，說：「他沒有甚麼；必沒有災禍會臨到我們；刀劍和饑荒、我們也必不會見到。神言人必成了風；主的話並不在他們裏面；他們所遭受的、必是這樣。」』

你實在叱責了那些受咒詛的傲慢人，那些行為差錯、偏離你誡命的人。

敬畏永恆主便是恨惡壞事；驕慢、狂傲、壞事的路、乖張的口、我都恨惡。）

不，他還賜更大的恩呢；故此經上說：『上帝敵擋狂傲的人，賜恩給謙卑的人』。

高傲的眼、虛假的舌頭、流無辜人之血的手、

先狂傲、然後遭破毁；先有高傲之氣、然後就跌倒。心靈謙卑、跟貧困人在一道，勝過將擄物跟驕傲人同分。

這樣、以實瑪利擊殺了亞希甘的兒子基大利和約哈拿從基遍所帶回來的男人、就是軍兵、婦女、幼童和太監、以後，加利亞的兒子約哈難和跟着他的眾將軍、便將所有餘剩之民、就是尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利從米斯巴所擄了去的人民，都奪回來。

你還向我的人民傲慢，不讓他們走麼？

看哪，其心中不正的必自吹自大，惟獨義人必因其忠信而活着。還有呢、那詭詐的有禍啊！那倨傲的人、他必不得安居：他擴大其所慾像陰間，他好像死亡永不滿足；聚集列國人都歸自己，收拾萬族之民到他那裏。』

心裏驕傲、都為永恆主所厭惡；我敢頓手擔保，他必難免於受罰。

我們飽受了安逸人的嗤笑，驕傲人的藐視，到了極點。

凡油滑嘴脣和說大話的舌頭願永恆主都割斷。

直到這眾民都體驗到，以法蓮和撒瑪利亞的居民都明白；因為他們憑驕傲、憑自大之心而說：『磚牆塌了，我們卻要鑿石頭來建築；桑樹砍了，我們卻要換上香柏樹。』

法老說：『永恆主是誰，我須聽他的話，而讓以色列人走呢？我不認識永恆主；我不讓以色列人走！』

你們要聽，要側耳以聽；不要驕傲；因為是永恆主說的。

耶利米向眾民說完了永恆主他們的上帝的一切話，就是永恆主他們的上帝差遣他去對他們說的那一切話，

你們年輕的、照樣要順服年長的。你們眾人、彼此相待、都要以謙卑為裝束；因為上帝敵擋狂傲的，賜恩給謙卑的人。

加利亞的兒子約哈難和在野外的眾將軍到米斯巴來見基大利，對他說：『亞捫人的王巴利斯打發尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利來要擊殺你、你知道麼？』亞希甘的兒子基大利卻不信他們。加利亞的兒子約哈難在米斯巴私下對基大利說：『請容我去擊殺尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利，必沒有人會知道的。何必讓他來擊殺你，使集合到你這裏來的猶大人都分散，以致猶大餘剩之民都滅亡呢？』亞希甘的兒子基大利對加利亞的兒子約哈難說：『你不可行這事；因為你所說關於以實瑪利的話都沒影兒。』

惡人面帶驕氣、不尋求永恆主；他一切想法都沒有上帝。你判斷之高超、不在他眼裏；他所行的往往強硬而固執；對一切敵人、他只噴之以氣。

恐怕我飽足了、就否認你，說：『永恆主是誰？』又恐怕我窮乏了、就偷竊，以致冒瀆了我的上帝的名。
