So he called together Johanan son of Kareah and all the army officers who were with him and all the people from the least to the greatest.

眾將軍和加利亞的兒子約哈難、跟何沙雅的兒子亞撒利雅以及眾民、從小的到大的、都進前來，

他們就到米斯巴去見基大利；去的有尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利、加利亞的兩個兒子約哈難和約拿單、單戶篾的兒子西萊雅、尼陀法人以斐的兒子們、和瑪迦人的兒子耶撒尼亞：這些人和他們屬下的人。

何沙雅的兒子亞撒利雅和加利亞的兒子約哈難跟一切傲慢悖逆的人就對耶利米說：『你說了假話：永恆主我們的上帝並沒有差遣你來說：「你們不可進埃及去寄居在那裏」呀，只是尼利亞的兒子巴錄挑唆了你來害我們，要將我們交於迦勒底人手中，使他們得以殺死我們，使我們流亡到巴比倫去罷了。』於是加利亞的兒子約哈難和眾將軍跟眾民都不聽從永恆主叫他們住在猶大地的話。加利亞的兒子約哈難和眾將軍便帶領了猶大所有餘剩之民、就是從被放逐到的各國回來、住在猶大地的

加利亞的兒子約哈難和跟着他的眾將軍聽見了尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利所行的一切壞事，就帶領所有的人前往，要攻擊尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利，就在基遍的大水池旁碰着了他。那些跟着以實瑪利去的眾民一看見加利亞的兒子約哈難、和跟着他的眾將軍，就歡喜。於是以實瑪利從米斯巴所擄了去的眾民都轉身回來，向着加利亞的兒子約哈難走來。尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利帶着八個人逃脫約哈難的手，到亞捫人那裏去。這樣、以實瑪利擊殺了亞希甘的兒子基大利和約哈拿從基遍所帶回來的男人、就是軍兵、婦女、幼童和太監、以後，加利亞的兒子約哈難和跟着他的眾將軍、便將所有餘剩之民、就是尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利從米斯巴所擄了去的人民，都奪回來。
