他來到了路旁的羊壘圈，在那裏有個洞，掃羅進去大解。大衛和跟隨的人正住在洞的儘裏頭。

那五個王逃跑，藏匿在瑪基大洞裏。有人告訴約書亞說：『那五個王已經找到了，都藏匿在瑪基大洞裏呢。』約書亞說：『把幾塊大石頭輥到洞口，派人看守着。

二人就讓非利士人的駐防兵看見；非利士人說：『看哪，有希伯來人從他們所藏的窟窿洞裏出來呢。』

世界配不上他們：他們在曠野、在山嶺、在洞窘、在地穴、飄流無定。

那些藏在以法蓮山地的以色列眾人、聽說非利士人在逃跑，他們也就在戰場上緊緊追趕他們。
