「我，是我安慰你們；你是誰，竟怕那必死的人，就是那被棄如草芥的世人；竟忘記了那造你的耶和華，就是展開諸天、奠定大地根基的那一位；竟終日不斷地懼怕，就是懼怕壓迫者預備行毀滅時的怒火！其實那壓迫者的怒火在哪裡呢？

你究竟害怕誰、畏懼誰，以致說謊、不記念我，也不把我放在心上呢？難道我長久以來不是一直靜默嗎？難道你們因此就不敬畏我了嗎？

還說：「不，我們要騎馬逃跑！」因此你們真的會逃跑；你們又說：「我們要騎飛快的馬！」因此追趕你們的人也會飛快。一個人的威脅，會使千人逃跑；五個人的威脅，會使你們逃跑得所剩無幾，如山頂上的旗杆，又如岡陵上的旗幟。
