你们所害怕的战争和饥荒必紧紧地跟着你们。你们必死在埃及。

不要惧怕巴比伦王，不要怕他，因为我必与你们同在，拯救你们脱离他的权势。这是耶和华说的。

耶和华说：“安慰你们的是我，是我。你为什么要害怕难逃一死、生命如草芥的世人呢？难道你忘记了创造你、铺展穹苍、奠立大地根基的耶和华吗？难道因为试图毁灭你的欺压者大发怒气，你就整天惊恐不安吗？他们的怒气如今在哪里呢？

“你们惧怕谁，以致对我说谎，不把我放在心上，忘记我？你们不再敬畏我，是因为我长期沉默吗？

你们说，‘不，我们要骑马奔逃。’所以你们必奔逃。你们又说，‘我们要骑快马逃跑。’所以追赶你们的人必疾驰如飞。他们一人叱喝，必吓得你们千人逃跑；他们五人叱喝，你们必全部逃跑，以致余剩的人少得像山顶上的旗杆、高岗上的旗帜。”

七月，王室后裔以利沙玛的孙子、尼探雅的儿子以实玛利带着十个人在米斯巴刺杀了基大利以及跟他一起的犹大人和迦勒底人。
