約押對亞瑪撒說：「我的弟兄，你平安嗎？」他就用右手抓住亞瑪撒的鬍子，要親吻他。亞瑪撒沒有防備約押手裏拿着的刀；約押用刀刺入他的肚腹，他的腸子流在地上，約押沒有再刺，他就死了。約押和他弟弟亞比篩往前追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

火熱的嘴唇，邪惡的心，好像銀渣包在瓦器上。仇敵用嘴唇掩飾，心裏卻藏着詭詐；他用甜言蜜語，你不能相信他，因為他心中有七樣可憎惡的事。他雖用詭詐掩飾怨恨，他的邪惡必在集會中顯露。

對他說：「亞捫人的王巴利斯派尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利來謀害你的命，你知道嗎？」亞希甘的兒子基大利卻不相信他們的話。加利亞的兒子約哈難在米斯巴私下對基大利說：「求你容我去殺尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利，必無人知道。何必讓他害你的命，使聚集到你這裏來的猶大人都分散，以致猶大剩餘的人都滅亡呢？」亞希甘的兒子基大利對加利亞的兒子約哈難說：「你不可做這事，你所論以實瑪利的話是假的。」

七月中，王室後裔以利沙瑪的孫子，尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利帶着十個人來，擊殺了基大利和同他在米斯巴的猶大人與迦勒底人，把他們殺死。

驕傲挑啟紛爭；聽勸言卻有智慧。

耶穌還在說話的時候，來了一羣人。十二使徒之一名叫猶大的，走在前頭，接近耶穌，要親他。耶穌對他說：「猶大，你用親吻來出賣人子嗎？」

他們向我以惡報善，以恨報愛。

憤怒為殘忍，怒氣像狂瀾，惟有嫉妒，誰能擋得住呢？

押尼珥回到希伯崙，約押領他到城門中間，要與他私下交談，就在那裏刺穿了他的肚腹。他就死了，因為他流了約押兄弟亞撒黑的血。
