首領們進院子去見王，卻先把書卷存在祕書以利沙瑪的廂房裏，然後將這一切話報告給王聽。

亞哈謝的母親亞他利雅見她的兒子死了，就起來剿滅猶大家王室所有的後裔。

他從以色列王家後裔中取了一人，叫他發咒起誓、而跟他立約，巴王將國中有勢力的人擄去，

就下王宮，到祕書的廂房那裏；只見所有的首領都坐那裏：有祕書以利沙瑪、示瑪雅的兒子第萊雅、亞革博的兒子以利拿單、沙番的兒子基瑪利雅、哈拿尼雅的兒子西底家、和所有其餘的首領。

我不是指着你們眾人說的；我認識我所揀選的；但這是要應驗經上所說：「嚼我的餅的舉起腳跟來踢我」！

約押對亞瑪撒說：『我兄弟，你好啊！』就用右手抓住亞瑪撒的鬍子、要和他親嘴。亞瑪撒沒有提防約押手裏的刀，約押用刀刺入他的五臟，他的腸子流在地上，沒有再刺他，他就死了。約押和他的兄弟亞比篩往前追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

油滑的嘴、奸惡的心、好像釉兒包在瓦器上。怨恨人的用嘴掩飾，心裏卻存着詭詐；他雖說出溫雅的話，你不可信他，因為他心中有七樣可厭惡的；他雖裝模作樣去遮掩恨心，其邪惡總會在公會中露現出的。

對他說：『亞捫人的王巴利斯打發尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利來要擊殺你、你知道麼？』亞希甘的兒子基大利卻不信他們。加利亞的兒子約哈難在米斯巴私下對基大利說：『請容我去擊殺尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利，必沒有人會知道的。何必讓他來擊殺你，使集合到你這裏來的猶大人都分散，以致猶大餘剩之民都滅亡呢？』亞希甘的兒子基大利對加利亞的兒子約哈難說：『你不可行這事；因為你所說關於以實瑪利的話都沒影兒。』

但是七月間、王家後裔以利沙瑪的孫子尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利卻帶着十個人一同來，擊打了基大利以至於死，又擊殺了同他在米斯巴的猶大人和迦勒底人。

傲慢只能啓爭競；接受勸告的乃有智慧。

耶穌還說着話的時候，忽然來了一羣人，那十二人中的一個、叫猶大的、走在眾人前頭。他走近了耶穌那裏，要和耶穌親嘴；耶穌對他說：『猶大，你用親嘴把人子送官麼？』

他們對我、是以惡報善，以恨報愛的。

烈怒之兇猛、怒氣之橫流！還可以對付；對嫉妒、誰能敵得住呢？

押尼珥回到希伯崙，約押領他轉到城門的甕洞裏，彷彿要和他說機密話的樣子，就在那裏刺透他的五臟，他便死了：這是為他兄弟亞撒黑報血仇的。

亞哈謝的母親亞他利雅見她兒子死了，就起來殺滅王室所有的後裔。

喫王大餐的必使他破敗；他的軍隊必被沖沒，而被刺死倒斃的很多。這兩個王呢、一心專想行壞事；在同一席上也說謊；但那是不能成功的，因為到了定期、結局還是來到。
