約押對亞瑪撒說：“我的兄弟，你好嗎？”約押用右手握住亞瑪撒的鬍子，要與他親吻。亞瑪撒沒有防備約押手中的刀，約押用這刀刺進他的肚子，他的內臟就流在地上。不用再刺第二刀，亞瑪撒就死了。約押和他的兄弟亞比篩繼續追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

嘴唇火熱，心卻奸惡，就像包上銀渣的瓦器。憎惡人的用話語掩飾自己，心裡卻存著詭詐。他的話語雖然動聽，你不可信他，因為他心裡有七樣可厭惡的事。他的怨恨雖然以詭詐掩飾，但他的邪惡必在大會中顯露出來。

對他說：“亞捫王巴利斯派尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利來殺你，你知道嗎？”亞希甘的兒子基大利不相信他們。後來加利亞的兒子約哈難在米斯巴私下告訴基大利說：“請容我去把尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利殺了，必沒有人知道；為甚麼要讓他殺你，以致集合到你那裡來的所有猶大人都分散，猶大餘剩的人都滅亡呢？”但亞希甘的兒子基大利對加利亞的兒子約哈難說：“你不可作這事，因為你所說關於以實瑪利的事都是謊話！”

但在七月的時候，王裔以利沙瑪的孫子、尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利，帶了十個人和他一起，他們襲擊基大利，把他殺死，和他一起在米斯巴的猶大人和迦勒底人，也被殺死。

傲慢只能引起爭端；接受勸告的卻有智慧。

耶穌還在說話的時候，來了一群人，十二門徒中的猶大走在前頭，到了耶穌跟前要用嘴親他。耶穌對他說：“猶大，你用親吻作暗號出賣人子嗎？”

他們對我以惡報善，以憎恨回報我的愛。

烈怒雖然兇殘，暴怒又好像狂瀾，人還可以忍受；但面對嫉妒，誰能站立得住呢？

押尼珥回到了希伯崙，約押就拉他到城門的甕洞裡與他密談。約押就在那裡刺透他的肚子，他就死了。這樣，他替自己的兄弟亞撒黑報了血仇。

那些吃王膳的必毀滅他；他的軍隊必被沖沒，受重傷而倒斃的很多。至於那兩個王，他們都存心不良；他們同桌吃飯，也彼此說謊；他們的陰謀卻不成功，因為要到了指定的時候，結局才會來到。
