他們把卷軸存放在書記以利沙瑪的房間，然後進宮把這件事稟告王。

我這話不是對你們每一個人說的，我知道我揀選了誰，但這是為了要應驗聖經上的話，『吃我飯的人用腳踢我。』

約押對亞瑪撒說：「兄弟，你好嗎？」他用右手抓住亞瑪撒的鬍子，親吻他。亞瑪撒毫無防備，被約押一刀刺入肚子，肚破腸流而死。然後，約押和他兄弟亞比篩繼續追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

對他說：「亞捫王巴利斯派尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利來殺你，你知道嗎？」亞希甘的兒子基大利卻不相信他們的話。後來，加利亞的兒子約哈難在米斯巴私下對基大利說：「讓我去殺掉尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利吧！沒人會知道。何必讓他來殺害你，以致匯集到你這裡的猶大餘民再度分散、滅亡呢？」但亞希甘的兒子基大利說：「你不可殺他，你說他要殺我這件事不是真的。」

七月，王室後裔以利沙瑪的孫子、尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利帶著十個人在米斯巴刺殺了基大利以及跟他一起的猶大人和迦勒底人。

自高自大招惹紛爭，虛心受教才是睿智。

耶穌還在說話的時候，十二使徒中的猶大已帶著一群人趕到，他上前親吻耶穌。耶穌對他說：「猶大，你用親吻的暗號來出賣人子嗎？」

他們對我以惡報善，以恨報愛。

暴怒固然殘酷，憤恨好比狂瀾，然而嫉妒更是無人能敵。

押尼珥回到希伯崙的時候，約押就把他帶到城門的甕洞，裝作與他密談，乘機用短劍刺入他的肚子，把他殺死了，為他兄弟亞撒黑報了仇。

南方王必遭親信暗算，全軍潰敗，許多人被殺。兩個王心懷叵測，同席而坐，爾虞我詐，但都不成功，因為結局必在所定的時間到來。
