Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam and grandson of Shaphan, took an oath so as to give them and their troops some assurance of safety.“ Do not be afraid to submit to the Babylonians. Settle down in the land and submit to the king of Babylon. Then things will go well for you.

Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan swore to them and to their men, saying,“ Don’t be afraid to serve the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.

但如果哪一国肯负巴比伦王的轭，臣服于他，我必使那国的人们留在本国，安居乐业。这是耶和华说的。’”

于是，约拿单与大卫家立下盟约，说：“倘若大卫不守盟约，愿耶和华借着仇敌惩罚他。”约拿单因为像爱自己一样爱大卫，便叫他再次起誓。

耶利米说：“以色列的上帝——万军之上帝耶和华说，‘如果你出去向巴比伦王的将领投降，就可以保住你和你全家的性命，这城也不会被烧毁。但如果你不出去向巴比伦王的将领投降，这城必落在迦勒底人手里，被付之一炬，你也逃不掉。’”西底迦王说：“我害怕那些已经向迦勒底人投降的犹大人，恐怕迦勒底人会把我交给他们，任由他们羞辱。”耶利米说：“不会的。只要你听从耶和华吩咐我对你说的话，你就可以平安无事，保全性命。

你必享受自己的劳动成果，得到祝福，行事亨通。

他见那地方好作安身之处，地土肥美，就垂下肩头，做了奴隶。

要信靠耶和华，要行善，要在这片土地上安然度日。
