“ Announce in Judah and proclaim in Jerusalem and say:‘ Sound the trumpet throughout the land!’ Cry aloud and say:‘ Gather together! Let us flee to the fortified cities!’

“ Announce my message in Judah. Tell it in Jerusalem. Say,‘ Blow trumpets all through the land!’ Give a loud shout and say,‘ Gather together! Let’s run to cities that have high walls around them!’

“ Shout to Judah, and broadcast to Jerusalem! Tell them to sound the alarm throughout the land:‘ Run for your lives! Flee to the fortified cities!’

The LORD said,“ Announce this in Judah and proclaim it in Jerusalem:‘ Sound the trumpet throughout the land!’ Shout out loudly,‘ Gather together! Let us flee into the fortified cities!’

Declare in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say,‘ Blow the trumpet in the land!’ Cry aloud and say,‘ Assemble yourselves! Let’s go into the fortified cities!’

Why are we just sitting here? Gather together; let’s enter the fortified cities and perish there, for the LORD our God has destroyed us. He has given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.

“ Run for cover out of Jerusalem, Benjaminites. Sound the ram’s horn in Tekoa; raise a smoke signal over Beth-haccherem, for disaster threatens from the north, even a crushing blow.

So Joshua and the Israelites finished inflicting a terrible slaughter on them until they were destroyed, although a few survivors ran away to the fortified cities.

Put the ram’s horn to your mouth! One like an eagle comes against the house of the LORD, because they transgress my covenant and rebel against my law.

However, when King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon marched into the land, we said,‘ Come, let’s go into Jerusalem to get away from the Chaldean and Aramean armies.’ So we have been living in Jerusalem.”

“ Declare this in the house of Jacob; proclaim it in Judah, saying:

If a ram’s horn is blown in a city, aren’t people afraid? If a disaster occurs in a city, hasn’t the LORD done it?

“ Listen to the words of this covenant and tell them to the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem.

“ Son of man, speak to your people and tell them,‘ Suppose I bring the sword against a land, and the people of that land select a man from among them, appointing him as their watchman.And suppose he sees the sword coming against the land and blows his ram’s horn to warn the people.Then, if anyone hears the sound of the ram’s horn but ignores the warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his death will be his own fault.Since he heard the sound of the ram’s horn but ignored the warning, his death is his own fault. If he had taken warning, he would have saved his life.However, suppose the watchman sees the sword coming but doesn’t blow the ram’s horn, so that the people aren’t warned, and the sword comes and takes away their lives. Then they have been taken away because of their iniquity, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood.’

A lion has roared; who will not fear? The Lord GOD has spoken; who will not prophesy?

Who is the person wise enough to understand this? Who has the LORD spoken to, that he may explain it? Why is the land destroyed and scorched like a wilderness, so no one can pass through?
