This is what the Lord says:“ The whole land will be ruined, though I will not destroy it completely.

蓋耶和華云、全地將成荒蕪、然我不盡滅之、

耶和華曰、雖遍地荒蕪、我怒猶不息。

蓋主如是云、全地必荒蕪、然我不盡滅之、

The Lord says,“ The whole land will be destroyed. But I will not destroy it completely.

For thus says the Lord,“ The whole land shall be a desolation; yet I will not make a full end.

This is what the Lord says:“ The whole land will be ruined, but I will not destroy it completely.

For this is what the LORD says:“ The whole land will be a desolation, but I will not finish it off.

For this is what the Lord says:“ The whole land shall be a desolation, Yet I will not execute a complete destruction.

For thus says the Lord:“ The whole land shall be desolate; Yet I will not make a full end.

For thus saith Jehovah, The whole land shall be a desolation; yet will I not make a full end.

For this is what the Lord says: The whole land will be a desolation, but I will not finish it off.

For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.

All this will happen because the LORD said,“ The whole land will be desolate; however, I will not completely destroy it.

For Yahweh says,“ The whole land will be a desolation; yet I will not make a full end.

Do not be afraid, Jacob my servant, for I am with you,” declares the Lord.“ Though I completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you, I will not completely destroy you. I will discipline you but only in due measure; I will not let you go entirely unpunished.”

“ Go through her vineyards and ravage them, but do not destroy them completely. Strip off her branches, for these people do not belong to the Lord.

“ Yet even in those days,” declares the Lord,“ I will not destroy you completely.

I am with you and will save you,’ declares the Lord.‘ Though I completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you, I will not completely destroy you. I will discipline you but only in due measure; I will not let you go entirely unpunished.’

I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin.God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah— how he appealed to God against Israel:“ Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”?And what was God’s answer to him?“ I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain. The elect among them did, but the others were hardened,

Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them or abhor them so as to destroy them completely, breaking my covenant with them. I am the Lord their God.

Now as I was prophesying, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. Then I fell facedown and cried out in a loud voice,“ Alas, Sovereign Lord! Will you completely destroy the remnant of Israel?”

Isaiah cries out concerning Israel:“ Though the number of the Israelites be like the sand by the sea, only the remnant will be saved.For the Lord will carry out his sentence on earth with speed and finality.”It is just as Isaiah said previously:“ Unless the Lord Almighty had left us descendants, we would have become like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah.”

Their land will be an object of horror and of lasting scorn; all who pass by will be appalled and will shake their heads.

I will make the land a desolate waste, and her proud strength will come to an end, and the mountains of Israel will become desolate so that no one will cross them.

The earth will be completely laid waste and totally plundered. The Lord has spoken this word.The earth dries up and withers, the world languishes and withers, the heavens languish with the earth.The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant.Therefore a curse consumes the earth; its people must bear their guilt. Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up, and very few are left.The new wine dries up and the vine withers; all the merrymakers groan.The joyful timbrels are stilled, the noise of the revelers has stopped, the joyful harp is silent.No longer do they drink wine with a song; the beer is bitter to its drinkers.The ruined city lies desolate; the entrance to every house is barred.In the streets they cry out for wine; all joy turns to gloom, all joyful sounds are banished from the earth.The city is left in ruins, its gate is battered to pieces.So will it be on the earth and among the nations, as when an olive tree is beaten, or as when gleanings are left after the grape harvest.

Then I said,“ For how long, Lord?” And he answered:“ Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are left deserted and the fields ruined and ravaged,until the Lord has sent everyone far away and the land is utterly forsaken.

See, the Lord is going to lay waste the earth and devastate it; he will ruin its face and scatter its inhabitants—

And I will stretch out my hand against them and make the land a desolate waste from the desert to Diblah— wherever they live. Then they will know that I am the Lord.’”

A lion has come out of his lair; a destroyer of nations has set out. He has left his place to lay waste your land. Your towns will lie in ruins without inhabitant.

I will bring an end to the sounds of joy and gladness and to the voices of bride and bridegroom in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, for the land will become desolate.

“ Surely the eyes of the Sovereign Lord are on the sinful kingdom. I will destroy it from the face of the earth. Yet I will not totally destroy the descendants of Jacob,” declares the Lord.“ For I will give the command, and I will shake the people of Israel among all the nations as grain is shaken in a sieve, and not a pebble will reach the ground.

It will be made a wasteland, parched and desolate before me; the whole land will be laid waste because there is no one who cares.Over all the barren heights in the desert destroyers will swarm, for the sword of the Lord will devour from one end of the land to the other; no one will be safe.

The land enjoyed its sabbath rests; all the time of its desolation it rested, until the seventy years were completed in fulfillment of the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah.
