I looked, and behold, the fruitful land was a wilderness, And all its cities were pulled down Before the Lord, before His fierce anger.

我又觀之、見沃田成為荒野、諸邑毀於耶和華烈怒之前、

良田荒蕪、城邑傾圮、蓋耶和華涖臨、其怒殊烈。

見良田荒蕪、其諸城邑傾圮於主前、皆因主之烈怒、

I looked, and the fruitful land was a desert; all its towns lay in ruins before the Lord, before his fierce anger.

I looked. And the fruitful land had become a desert. All its towns were destroyed. The Lord had done all this because of his great anger.

I looked, and behold, the fruitful land was a desert, and all its cities were laid in ruins before the Lord, before his fierce anger.

I looked, and the fertile fields had become a wilderness. The towns lay in ruins, crushed by the Lord’s fierce anger.

On that day the Lord will shave with a razor, hired from regions beyond the Euphrates River( that is, with the king of Assyria), the head and the hair of the legs; and it will also remove the beard.Now on that day a person may keep alive only a heifer and a pair of sheep;and because of the abundance of the milk produced he will eat curds, for everyone who is left within the land will eat curds and honey.And it will come about on that day, that every place where there used to be a thousand vines, valued at a thousand shekels of silver, will become briars and thorns.People will come there with bows and arrows, because all the land will be briars and thorns.As for all the hills which used to be cultivated with the plow, you will not go there for fear of briars and thorns; but they will become a place for pasturing oxen and for sheep to trample.

‘ All its land is brimstone and salt, burned debris, unsown and unproductive, and no grass grows on it, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in His anger and in His wrath.’All the nations will say,‘ Why has the Lord done all this to this land? Why this great outburst of anger?’Then people will say,‘ It is because they abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.And they went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods that they have not known and whom He had not assigned to them.Therefore, the anger of the Lord burned against that land, to bring upon it every curse which is written in this book;and the Lord uprooted them from their land in anger, fury, and in great wrath, and hurled them into another land, as it is this day.’

“ Judah mourns And her gates languish; Her people sit on the ground in mourning garments, And the cry of Jerusalem has ascended.Their nobles have sent their servants for water; They have come to the cisterns and found no water. They have returned with their containers empty; They have been put to shame and humiliated, And they cover their heads,Because the ground is cracked, For there has been no rain on the land. The farmers have been put to shame, They have covered their heads.For even the doe in the field has given birth only to abandon her young, Because there is no grass.The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights; They pant for air like jackals, Their eyes fail Because there is no vegetation.

You, You indeed are to be feared, And who may stand in Your presence, once You are angry?

How long is the land to mourn, And the vegetation of the countryside to dry up? Due to the wickedness of those who live in it, Animals and birds have been snatched away, Because people have said,“ He will not see our final end.”
