我觀看，啊，園地竟變為曠野；一切城市、在永恆主面前、因他的烈怒、都被拆毁。

I looked, and the fruitful land was a desert; all its towns lay in ruins before the Lord, before his fierce anger.

I looked. And the fruitful land had become a desert. All its towns were destroyed. The Lord had done all this because of his great anger.

I looked, and behold, the fruitful land was a desert, and all its cities were laid in ruins before the Lord, before his fierce anger.

I looked, and the fertile fields had become a wilderness. The towns lay in ruins, crushed by the Lord’s fierce anger.

他使多結果實之地變為鹹地；都因其間居民的邪惡。

故此因你們的緣故、錫安必被耕種為田地，耶路撒冷必變為亂堆；這殿的山必成為森林之山丘。

萬軍之永恆主曾經起誓，使我親耳聽到：他說：『必有許多房屋變成荒涼，又大又美，無人居住。十畝葡萄園、只出一罷特酒；一賀梅珥穀種、只結一伊法糧食。』

當那日子、主必用大河那邊賃來的剃刀——就是亞述王——剃光你們的頭髮和陰毛，並刮淨你們的鬍鬚。當那日子一個人得以養活一隻母牛犢，兩隻母綿羊；那時由於出的奶子多，他就得以喫奶酪；因為國中所有剩下的人都得以喫奶酪——並且喫蜜。當那日子凡經常種一千棵葡萄樹、值一千錠銀子的地方、必都撇下給蒺藜和荊棘。人上那裏去、總得帶弓和箭，因為遍地都是蒺藜和荊棘。所有經常用鋤刨挖的山地、你因怕蒺藜和荊棘、都不敢上那裏去；那只可做放牛之處，讓羊踐踏之地罷了。

又看見遍地有硫磺、有鹽鹵、有火迹，沒有播種，沒有生產，連草都不長，好像所多瑪、蛾摩拉、押瑪、洗扁傾覆的景象，就是永恆主在怒氣怒火中所傾覆的，這些看見的人、和萬國人必都說：「永恆主為甚麼這樣辦此地呢？這樣大的烈怒是甚麼意思呢？」那麼人就必說：「是因為這地的人背棄了他們列祖的上帝的約，背棄了上帝在領他們出埃及時與他們所立的約，去事奉敬拜別的神；這些神是他們素來不認識的，是永恆主所沒有分給他們去敬拜的；因此永恆主向這地發怒，將這書上所寫的一切咒詛都帶到這地來；而永恆主在怒氣烈怒中、在大震怒中、就把他們從他們的土地上拔出來，給丟在別的地上、像今日一樣。」

『猶大悲哀，她的城門衰敗，人都披上黑衣坐在地上哀悼；耶路撒冷的哀號聲直往上升。他們的貴顯人打發家僮去打水；家僮來到沼池邊，見沒有水，就空着器皿回來，失望狼狽，抱頭無言。耕種土地的驚慌失措，因為沒有霖雨在地上；耕地的人都失望，抱頭蒙羞。連田野間的母鹿也剛生產就撇棄，因為沒有青草。野驢站在無草木的高處上，好像野狗在喘氣；他們的眼都失明，因為沒有草喫。

惟獨你可畏懼；誰能在你面前站得住你的怒氣呢？

這地悲哀，遍野的青草枯乾，要到幾時呢？因這裏的居民所行的壞事、牲口和飛鳥都被掃滅掉，因為人們說：『他看不到我們的結局。』
