見良田荒蕪、其諸城邑傾圮於主前、皆因主之烈怒、

I looked, and the fruitful land was a desert; all its towns lay in ruins before the Lord, before his fierce anger.

I looked. And the fruitful land had become a desert. All its towns were destroyed. The Lord had done all this because of his great anger.

I looked, and behold, the fruitful land was a desert, and all its cities were laid in ruins before the Lord, before his fierce anger.

當是時主必藉河外之人、即亞述王、翦除民眾、如以所租之薙刀、薙除首髮、足毛、及鬚髯、當是時人養一牝牛二羊、必因乳多、得食乳油、凡遺於斯地者、必得食乳油與蜜、昔葡萄園、可植葡萄樹千株、值銀一千舍客勒、至此時遍生荊棘疾藜、因遍生荊棘蒺藜、故人欲至之、必執弓矢、所有山岡、昔以鋤耕耘者、因荊棘蒺藜阻礙、爾亦不得至、斯地乃為牧牛之處、為羊所踐、

硫磺與鹽、鹽或作硝焚燬徧地、不得耕種、不產物、不生草、如所多瑪、俄摩拉、押瑪、洗扁、主震怒時所傾覆者、彼與列邦人皆必問曰、主何為如此待此地、其怒若是之烈何故、人必對曰、緣斯民列祖之主天主、昔導之出伊及、與之立約而民背之、往奉事叩拜異邦之神、即素所不識之神、主未嘗命彼奉事者、故主震怒斯地、以此書所載之諸禍禍或作詛降之、大震其怒、氣忿甚烈、以斯民由其地拔除、投棄於異邦、有如今日之事、

猶大國懷憂、邑民咸憊、伏地哀慘、耶路撒冷號呼、聲聞於上、長者遣少者汲水、至井不得水、提其空器、慚愧慚愧或作惶恐下同蒙首而歸、因無雨降於地、土壤乾裂、耕者慚愧蒙首、麀產子於野而遺之、因無草故、野驢立於童山、吸氣若豺狼、豺狼或作野犬其目迷眩、因無草故、

主是可畏、主震怒時、誰能立於主前、

斯地哀慘、田野之草枯槁、將至何時、緣斯地居民之惡、走獸飛禽盡滅、彼猶自言曰、我終局若何、彼耶利米必不得見、
