当耶利米先知来到便雅悯门时，哈拿尼亚的孙子、示利米雅的儿子守门官伊利雅逮捕了他，说：“你想去投奔迦勒底人！”

你们憎恨在城门口主持公道的人，厌恶正直的人。

耶稣回答说：“有个人从耶路撒冷去耶利哥，途中被劫。强盗剥了他的衣服，把他打个半死，丢在那里，然后扬长而去。“刚好有位祭司经过，看见那人躺在地上，连忙从旁边绕过，继续赶路。又有个利未人经过，也跟先前那个祭司一样从旁边绕过去了。“后来，有位撒玛利亚人经过，看见这个人，就动了慈心，连忙上前用油和酒替他敷伤口，包扎妥当，然后把他扶上自己骑的牲口，带到附近的客店照料。次日还交给店主两个银币，说，‘请替我好好照顾这个人。如果钱不够的话，等我回来再补给你。’那么，你认为这三个人中谁是被劫者的邻居呢？”

“你去告诉古实人以伯·米勒，以色列的上帝——万军之耶和华说，‘看啊，我必照我说的使这城遭受灾祸，得不到祝福。你必亲眼看见这一切发生。’耶和华说，‘但那时，我必拯救你，使你不致落在你所惧怕的人手中。我必拯救你，使你保全性命，不致丧身刀下，因为你信靠我。这是耶和华说的。’”

他把约雅斤及其母亲、妃嫔、臣仆和国中政要从耶路撒冷掳到巴比伦。

古实人能改变他们的肤色吗？豹子能脱去它们的斑点吗？你这作恶成性的人怎能行善呢？

腓利立刻动身，结果在那条路上遇见一个埃塞俄比亚的太监。他是埃塞俄比亚女王甘大基手下的重臣，负责管理国库。他刚从耶路撒冷参加敬拜回来，正坐在车上诵读以赛亚先知的书。圣灵吩咐腓利：“赶上去，贴近那辆马车！”腓利跑上前，听见太监在诵读以赛亚先知的书，就问：“你明白所读的经文吗？”他说：“没有人为我解释，我怎能明白呢？”他就请腓利上车和他一起坐。他刚才念的那段经文是：“祂默然不语，像被人牵去宰杀的羔羊，又如在剪毛人手下一声不吭的绵羊。祂忍受耻辱，无人为祂主持公道，谁能明白那个世代呢？因为祂的生命竟然被夺去。”太监问腓利：“请问先知是在说谁？在说他自己还是在说别人？”腓利就从这段经文入手向他传耶稣的福音。他们往前走的时候，经过一处有水的地方，太监说：“你看，这里有水，我可以在这里接受洗礼吗？”

我告诉你们，将来有许多从东从西来的人会在天国与亚伯拉罕、以撒和雅各一同欢宴。但那些本应承受天国的人反会被赶出去，在黑暗里哀哭切齿。”

那时人们会从东西南北来参加上帝国的宴席。看啊，有些殿后的将要为首，有些为首的将要殿后。”

“那时，我去城门口，到广场就坐，青年看见我便回避，老人也起身肃立；王侯都停止讲话，用手掩口；权贵都静默无声，舌头紧贴上膛。听见我的都祝福我，看见我的都称赞我。因为我拯救求助的穷人，解救无人援助的孤儿。临终的人为我祝福，我使寡妇心里欢唱。我以公义为衣穿在身上，公正是我的外袍和帽子。我做瞎子的眼、瘸子的脚；我做穷人的父，为陌生人申冤。我打落恶人的毒牙，从他们口中救出受害者。
