Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that[ was] in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon[ there was] no water, but mire: so Jeremiah sunk in the mire.

So they took Jeremiah and put him into the cistern of Malkijah, the king’s son, which was in the courtyard of the guard. They lowered Jeremiah by ropes into the cistern; it had no water in it, only mud, and Jeremiah sank down into the mud.

So they took Jeremiah and put him into an empty well. It belonged to Malkijah. He was a member of the royal court. His well was in the courtyard of the guard. Zedekiah’s men lowered Jeremiah by ropes into the well. It didn’t have any water in it. All it had was mud. And Jeremiah sank down into the mud.

So they took Jeremiah and cast him into the cistern of Malchiah, the king’s son, which was in the court of the guard, letting Jeremiah down by ropes. And there was no water in the cistern, but only mud, and Jeremiah sank in the mud.

So the officials took Jeremiah from his cell and lowered him by ropes into an empty cistern in the prison yard. It belonged to Malkijah, a member of the royal family. There was no water in the cistern, but there was a thick layer of mud at the bottom, and Jeremiah sank down into it.

So they took Jeremiah and dropped him into the cistern of Malchiah the king’s son, which was in the guard’s courtyard, lowering Jeremiah with ropes. There was no water in the cistern, only mud, and Jeremiah sank in the mud.

Then they took Jeremiah and threw him into the dungeon of Malchijah the king’s son, that was in the court of the guard. They let down Jeremiah with cords. In the dungeon there was no water, but mire; and Jeremiah sank in the mire.

Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.

When Jeremiah was entered into the dungeon, and into the cabins, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;

As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein[ is] no water.

And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit[ was] empty,[ there was] no water in it.

Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.

Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.

And, behold, all the women that are left in the king of Judah’s house[ shall be] brought forth to the king of Babylon’s princes, and those[ women] shall say, Thy friends have set thee on, and have prevailed against thee: thy feet are sunk in the mire,[ and] they are turned away back.

I sink in deep mire, where[ there is] no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock,[ and] established my goings.

But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.

But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them.

And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.Waters flowed over mine head;[ then] I said, I am cut off.I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.

So Ebedmelech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took thence old cast clouts and old rotten rags, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah.And Ebedmelech the Ethiopian said unto Jeremiah, Put now[ these] old cast clouts and rotten rags under thine armholes under the cords. And Jeremiah did so.

For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

[ We are] troubled on every side, yet not distressed;[ we are] perplexed, but not in despair;Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
