派人把耶利米從護衛兵的院中提出來，交給沙番的孫子，亞希甘的兒子基大利，讓他自由進出屋子；於是耶利米住在百姓中間。耶利米還囚在護衛兵院中的時候，耶和華的話臨到他，說：「你去告訴古實人以伯‧米勒說，萬軍之耶和華－以色列的上帝如此說：看哪，我說降禍不降福的話必臨到這城，到那時必在你面前實現。到那日我必拯救你，你必不致交在你所怕的人手中。這是耶和華說的。我定要搭救你，你必不致倒在刀下，卻要保全自己的性命，因你倚靠我。這是耶和華說的。」

於是他下令百夫長看守保羅，要從寬待他，不可攔阻他的親友來供給他。過了幾天，腓力斯和他夫人猶太女子土西拉一同來到，就叫保羅來，聽他講論信基督耶穌的事。保羅講論公義、節制和將來的審判，腓力斯害怕起來，就回答：「你暫且去吧！等我有機會時再來叫你。」腓力斯又指望保羅送他銀錢，所以屢次叫他來，和他談論。

你們要說：『王如此說，把這個人關在監獄裏，使他受苦，吃不飽喝不足，直等到我平安回來。』」

於是耶利米仍在護衛兵的院中，直到耶路撒冷被攻下的日子。當耶路撒冷被攻下時，他仍在那裏。
