把耶利米从卫兵的院子里提出来，交给沙番的孙子、亚希甘的儿子基大利，叫他带耶利米回家去。这样，耶利米就住在人民中间。耶利米还监禁在卫兵的院子里的时候，耶和华的话临到他，说：“你去告诉古实人以伯．米勒说：‘万军之耶和华以色列的神这样说：看哪！我必在这城实现我的话，降祸不降福；到那日，这一切都必在你面前实现。但到了那日，我必拯救你；你必不至交在你所惧怕的人手里。’这是耶和华的宣告。‘因为我必定搭救你；你必不会倒在刀下，必可以捡回自己的性命，因为你信靠我。’”这是耶和华的宣告。

于是吩咐百夫长看守保罗，但要宽待他，不可阻止亲友来照料他。过了几天，腓力斯和他的犹太妻子土西拉一同来到，他又传见保罗，听他谈论在耶稣基督里的信仰。保罗讲到公义、自制和将来的审判的时候，腓力斯就害怕起来，说：“你先走吧，等我有空的时候再叫你来。”同时他也希望保罗送钱给他，所以又多次传见他，和他谈话。

说：‘王这样吩咐：把这人囚在监里，少给他食物和水，直到我平平安安回来。’”

这样，耶利米留在卫兵的院子里，直到耶路撒冷被攻取的那一天。
