But when he reached the Benjamin Gate, the captain of the guard, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah, arrested him and said,“ You are deserting to the Babylonians!”

He got as far as the Benjamin Gate. But the captain of the guard arrested him. He said,“ You are going over to the side of the Babylonians!” The captain’s name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah. Shelemiah was the son of Hananiah.

When he was at the Benjamin Gate, a sentry there named Irijah the son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah, seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are deserting to the Chaldeans.”

But as he was walking through the Benjamin Gate, a sentry arrested him and said,“ You are defecting to the Babylonians!” The sentry making the arrest was Irijah son of Shelemiah, grandson of Hananiah.

But when he was at the Benjamin Gate, an officer of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah, and he apprehended the prophet Jeremiah, saying,“ You are defecting to the Chaldeans.”

While he was at the Gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah the son of Hananiah was there; and he arrested Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are deserting to the Chaldeans!”

And when he was in the Gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard was there whose name was Irijah the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”

And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he laid hold on Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou art falling away to the Chaldeans.

But when he was at the Benjamin Gate, an officer of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah, and he apprehended Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are deserting to the Chaldeans.”

And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward[ was] there, whose name[ was] Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.

But he only got as far as the Benjamin Gate. There an officer in charge of the guards named Irijah, who was the son of Shelemiah and the grandson of Hananiah, stopped him. He seized Jeremiah and said,“ You are deserting to the Babylonians!”

When he was in Benjamin’s gate, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”

在王宫里的太监古实人以伯‧米勒，听见他们把耶利米丢进井里，那时王坐在便雅悯门前。

从迦巴直到耶路撒冷南方的临门，全地要变为旷野。耶路撒冷要矗立于本处，从便雅悯门到旧门，又到角门，并从哈楠业楼，直到王的酒池。

住在这城里的必遭刀剑、饥荒、瘟疫而死；但出去投降围困你们之迦勒底人的必得存活，保全自己的性命。

他们开始控告他说：“我们见这人煽惑我们的国民，禁止我们纳税给凯撒，并说自己是基督，是王。”

也不能对你证实他们现在所控告我的事。

玛坦的儿子示法提雅、巴施户珥的儿子基大利、示利米雅的儿子犹甲、玛基雅的儿子巴示户珥听见耶利米对众百姓所说的话，说：

就收买人来说：“我们听见他说亵渎摩西和上帝的话。”

我们看这个人如同瘟疫一般，是鼓动普天下所有的犹太人作乱的人，又是拿撒勒教派里的一个头目。他甚至连圣殿也要污秽，我们就把他捉拿了。

我听见许多的毁谤，四围都是惊吓；连我知己朋友都看着我跌倒：“告他吧，我们要告他！或者他被引诱，我们就能胜他，在他身上报仇。”

他们说：“来吧！让我们设计谋害耶利米；因为我们有祭司讲律法，有智慧人设谋略，有先知说预言，都未曾断绝。来吧！让我们用舌头攻击他，不要理他一切的话。”

王就吩咐古实人以伯‧米勒说：“你从这里带领三十人，趁耶利米先知还没死，把他从井里拉上来。”于是以伯‧米勒带领这些人同去，进入王宫，到库房以下，从那里取了些碎布和破衣服，用绳子缒下去，到井里耶利米那里。古实人以伯‧米勒对耶利米说：“你用这些碎布和破衣服放在绳子上，垫你的腋下。”耶利米就照样做。这样，他们用绳子将耶利米从井里拉上来。耶利米仍在护卫兵的院中。西底家王差人将耶利米先知带进耶和华殿的第三个门，到王那里去。王对耶利米说：“我要问你一件事，你一点都不可向我隐瞒。”耶利米对西底家说：“我若告诉你，你岂不是一定要把我处死吗？我若劝你，你必不听我。”西底家王就私下对耶利米说：“我指着那造我们生命之永生的耶和华起誓：我必不把你处死，也不将你交在寻索你命的人手中。”耶利米对西底家说：“耶和华—万军之上帝、以色列的上帝如此说：你若归顺巴比伦王的官长，你的命就必存活，这城也不致被火焚烧，你和你的全家都必存活。

我就照这一切话对犹大王西底家说：“你们要把颈项放在巴比伦王的轭下，服事他和他的百姓，就得存活。你和你的百姓何必因刀剑、饥荒、瘟疫而死亡，像耶和华所论不肯服事巴比伦王的国家呢？

于是官长们对王说：“求你把这人处死，因他向城里剩下的士兵和众人说这样的话，使他们的手发软。这人不是为这百姓求平安，而是叫他们受灾祸。”

就下到王宫，进入书记的房间。看哪，所有的官长都坐在那里，包括以利沙玛文士、示玛雅的儿子第莱雅、亚革波的儿子以利拿单、沙番的儿子基玛利雅、哈拿尼雅的儿子西底家和其余的官长。

现在我将全地都交在我仆人巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒手中，也把野地的走兽给他使用。

万军之耶和华—以色列的上帝如此说：我已将铁轭加在这些国的颈项上，使他们服事巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒。他们总要服事他，我也把野地的走兽给了他。”

伯特利的祭司亚玛谢派人到以色列王耶罗波安那里，说：“阿摩司在以色列家中图谋背叛你，他所说的一切话，这地不能承担；

荣誉或羞辱、恶名或美名。我们似乎是诱惑人的，却是诚实的；
