Even if you were to defeat the entire Babylonian army that is attacking you and only wounded men were left in their tents, they would come out and burn this city down.”

Suppose you destroy all the armies of Babylon that are attacking you. Suppose only wounded men are left in their tents. Even then they will come out and burn down this city.’ ”

For even if you should defeat the whole army of Chaldeans who are fighting against you, and there remained of them only wounded men, every man in his tent, they would rise up and burn this city with fire.’”

至於你們剩下的人呢、他們在仇敵之地時、我必使怯懦餒弱之氣進他們的心；飄蕩落葉的響聲也會追趕他們；他們必逃跑、像人逃避刀劍；沒有人追趕，他們也跌倒。沒有人追趕、他們也彼此相撞而跌倒，像在刀劍之前；在仇敵面前、你們也站立不住。你們必在外國中滅亡；仇敵之地必吞滅你們。

一人叱喝，千人就發顫，五人叱喝，你們就逃跑，以致你們剩下的就像山頂上的旗杆，岡陵上的旌旗。

惟獨你被拋棄，不得進你的墳墓，好像可厭的屍身，發出被刀刺死者的臭味，墜落到陰坑的根基，如同屍身被踐踏。

「永恆主以色列的上帝這麼說：看吧，我必使你們手中的戰器、就是你們在城外跟巴比倫王和圍困你們的迦勒底人打仗的戰器、翻轉過來，使這些器械都聚集在這城中。我必以怒氣、烈怒和大惱怒用伸出來的手和大能力的膀臂親自攻擊你們。我必擊打這城的居民，連人帶牲口；他們都必遭遇大瘟疫而死。然後我要將猶大王西底家，永恆主發神諭說，跟他的臣僕和平民，就是在這城內、從瘟疫、刀劍和饑荒中所剩下來的人、都交在巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒手中，和他們的仇敵手中，以及那些尋索他們性命的人手中，巴比倫王必用刀肆意擊殺他們，並不顧惜，不可憐，不憐憫。」

迦勒底人必再來攻擊這城；將城攻取，放火焚燒。

因此你們要聽永恆主的計畫、聽他所設計以攻擊巴比倫的；你們要聽永恆主的旨意、就是他所命定以攻擊迦勒底人之地的。仇敵竟定要將他們民羣中蕞爾微小的也拉去；定要使他們的田莊因這些事而驚駭。

你們只好屈身於俘虜之下，仆倒於被殺之人下面。雖有這一切，永恆主的怒氣還未轉消；他的手仍然伸着。

永恆主在他的軍隊前頭發出聲音；他的營兵極大；那執行他命令的是強盛者。永恆主的日子很大；極其可畏懼：誰能擔受得起呢？

凡被找到的，必被刺死；凡被追上的、必倒斃於刀下。

因此你們要聽永恆主的計畫、聽他所設計以攻擊以東的；你們要聽永恆主的旨意、就是他所命定以攻擊提幔居民的。仇敵竟定要將他們民羣中蕞爾微小的也拉去；定要使他們的田莊因這些事而驚駭。

他們必在迦勒底人之地被刺死而仆倒，在巴比倫街上被刺透。
