Zedekiah son of Josiah was made king of Judah by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; he reigned in place of Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim.

Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, appointed Zedekiah to be king of Judah. He was the son of Josiah. Zedekiah ruled in place of Jehoiachin, the son of Jehoiakim.

Zedekiah the son of Josiah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah, reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim.

巴比倫王立約雅斤的叔叔瑪探雅代替他作王，給瑪探雅改名叫西底家。

耶和華說：「猶大王約雅敬的兒子哥尼雅，雖是我右手上帶印的戒指，我憑我的永生起誓，也必將你從其上摘下來，

猶大王約雅斤和他母親、臣僕、首領、太監一同出城，投降巴比倫王；巴比倫王便拿住他。那時是巴比倫王第八年。

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒將猶大王約雅敬的兒子耶哥尼雅和猶大的首領，並工匠、鐵匠從耶路撒冷擄去，帶到巴比倫。這事以後，耶和華指給我看，有兩筐無花果放在耶和華的殿前。

哥尼雅這人是被輕看、破壞的器皿嗎？是無人喜愛的器皿嗎？他和他的後裔為何被趕到不認識之地呢？

約西亞的長子是約哈難，次子是約雅敬，三子是西底家，四子是沙龍。約雅敬的兒子是耶哥尼雅和西底家。

約雅斤登基的時候年八歲，在耶路撒冷作王三個月零十天，行耶和華眼中看為惡的事。過了一年，尼布甲尼撒差遣人將約雅斤和耶和華殿裏各樣寶貴的器皿帶到巴比倫，就立約雅斤的叔叔西底家作猶大和耶路撒冷的王。

猶大王約雅斤被擄後三十七年，巴比倫王以未‧米羅達元年十二月二十五日，使猶大王約雅斤擡頭，提他出監，

「你對那悖逆之家說：你們不知道這些事是甚麼意思嗎？你要告訴他們說，巴比倫王曾到耶路撒冷，將其中的君王和首領帶到巴比倫自己那裏去。從以色列的宗室中取一人與他立約，使他發誓，並將國中有勢力的人擄去，使國低微不能自強，惟因守盟約得以存立。他卻背叛巴比倫王，打發使者往埃及去，要他們給他馬匹和多民。他豈能亨通呢？行這樣事的人豈能逃脫呢？他背約豈能逃脫呢？他輕看向王所起的誓，背棄王與他所立的約。主耶和華說：我指着我的永生起誓，他定要死在立他作王、巴比倫王的京都。敵人築壘造臺，與他打仗的時候，為要剪除多人，法老雖領大軍隊和大羣眾，還是不能幫助他。他輕看誓言，背棄盟約，已經投降，卻又做這一切的事，他必不能逃脫。」所以主耶和華如此說：「我指着我的永生起誓，他既輕看指我所起的誓，背棄指我所立的約，我必要使這罪歸在他頭上。我必將我的網撒在他身上，他必在我的網羅中纏住。我必帶他到巴比倫，並要在那裏因他干犯我的罪刑罰他。他的一切軍隊，凡逃跑的，都必倒在刀下；所剩下的，也必分散四方。你們就知道說這話的是我－耶和華。」
