While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, suddenly arrived. A large mob with swords and clubs was with him from the chief priests and elders of the people.His betrayer had given them a sign:“ The one I kiss, he’s the one; arrest him.”So immediately he went up to Jesus and said,“ Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed him.“ Friend,” Jesus asked him,“ why have you come?” Then they came up, took hold of Jesus, and arrested him.

You are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with joyful shouts of deliverance. Selah

The chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where he was, he should report it so that they could arrest him.

He spoke these words by the treasury, while teaching in the temple. But no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.

The officials said to Baruch,“ You and Jeremiah must hide and tell no one where you are.”

Be gracious to me, God, be gracious to me, for I take refuge in you. I will seek refuge in the shadow of your wings until danger passes.

This is why I am sending you prophets, sages, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.So all the righteous blood shed on the earth will be charged to you, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.Truly I tell you, all these things will come on this generation.“ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her. How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

So they picked up stones to throw at him. But Jesus was hidden and went out of the temple.

Then I will make you a fortified wall of bronze to this people. They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you to save you and rescue you. This is the LORD’s declaration.I will rescue you from the power of evil people and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless.

I have struck down your children in vain; they would not accept discipline. Your own sword has devoured your prophets like a ravaging lion.

As the LORD your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my lord has not sent someone to search for you. When they said,‘ He is not here,’ he made that kingdom or nation swear they had not found you.“ Now you say,‘ Go tell your lord,“ Elijah is here!”’But when I leave you, the Spirit of the LORD may carry you off to some place I don’t know. Then when I go report to Ahab and he doesn’t find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared the LORD from my youth.

They will fight against you but never prevail over you, since I am with you to rescue you.” This is the LORD’s declaration.

Then Jeremiah commanded Baruch,“ I am restricted; I cannot enter the temple of the LORD,

King Jehoiakim, all his warriors, and all the officials heard his words, and the king tried to put him to death. When Uriah heard, he fled in fear and went to Egypt.But King Jehoiakim sent men to Egypt: Elnathan son of Achbor and certain other men with him went to Egypt.They brought Uriah out of Egypt and took him to King Jehoiakim, who executed him with the sword and threw his corpse into the burial place of the common people.

When the Arameans came against him, Elisha prayed to the LORD,“ Please strike this nation with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness, according to Elisha’s word.Then Elisha said to them,“ This is not the way, and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will take you to the man you’re looking for.” And he led them to Samaria.When they entered Samaria, Elisha said,“ LORD, open these men’s eyes and let them see.” So the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw that they were in the middle of Samaria.
