Whenever Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll, the king cut them off with a scribe’s knife and threw them into the firepot, until the entire scroll was burned in the fire.

Jehudi read three or four sections from the scroll. Then the king cut them off with a secretary’s knife. He threw them into the fire pot. He did that until the entire scroll was burned up in the fire.

As Jehudi read three or four columns, the king would cut them off with a knife and throw them into the fire in the fire pot, until the entire scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the fire pot.

As soon as Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll, the king would cut them off with a penknife and throw them on the fire in the firepot. He kept doing so until the whole scroll was burned up in the fire.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Yahweh, Micaiah the son of Imlah; but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” Jehoshaphat said,“ Don’t let the king say so.”

Therefore hear Yahweh’s word, you scoffers, that rule this people in Jerusalem:“ Because you have said,‘ We have made a covenant with death, and we are in agreement with Sheol. When the overflowing scourge passes through, it won’t come to us; for we have made lies our refuge, and we have hidden ourselves under falsehood.’”

Whoever despises instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command will be rewarded.

They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof.

Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of falsehood, and wickedness as with cart rope,who say,“ Let him make haste, let him hasten his work, that we may see it; let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw near and come, that we may know it!”

Say,‘ The king says,“ Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.”’”

There are many plans in a man’s heart, but Yahweh’s counsel will prevail.

There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against Yahweh.

and it happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying,“ I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart,” to destroy the moist with the dry.Yahweh will not pardon him, but then Yahweh’s anger and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book will fall on him, and Yahweh will blot out his name from under the sky.Yahweh will set him apart for evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this book of the law.

I will make justice the measuring line, and righteousness the plumb line. The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters will overflow the hiding place.Your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand. When the overflowing scourge passes through, then you will be trampled down by it.As often as it passes through, it will seize you; for morning by morning it will pass through, by day and by night; and it will be nothing but terror to understand the message.”For the bed is too short to stretch out on, and the blanket is too narrow to wrap oneself in.For Yahweh will rise up as on Mount Perazim. He will be angry as in the valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his unusual work, and bring to pass his act, his extraordinary act.Now therefore don’t be scoffers, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, on the whole earth.

since you hate instruction, and throw my words behind you?

If anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, may God take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are written in this book.

and say,“ How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

Concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say,‘ Yahweh says:“ You have burned this scroll, saying,“ Why have you written therein, saying,‘ The king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will cause to cease from there man and animal?’”’Therefore Yahweh says concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah:“ He will have no one to sit on David’s throne. His dead body will be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.I will punish him, his offspring, and his servants for their iniquity. I will bring on them, on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and on the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they didn’t listen.”’”

He who is often rebuked and stiffens his neck will be destroyed suddenly, with no remedy.
