Whenever Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll, the king cut them off with a scribe’s knife and threw them into the firepot, until the entire scroll was burned in the fire.

Jehudi read three or four sections from the scroll. Then the king cut them off with a secretary’s knife. He threw them into the fire pot. He did that until the entire scroll was burned up in the fire.

As Jehudi read three or four columns, the king would cut them off with a knife and throw them into the fire in the fire pot, until the entire scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the fire pot.

Each time Jehudi finished reading three or four columns, the king took a knife and cut off that section of the scroll. He then threw it into the fire, section by section, until the whole scroll was burned up.

以色列王對約沙法說：「還有一個人，是音拉的兒子米該雅，我們可以託他求問耶和華。只是我真的很恨他，因為他對我說預言，從不說吉言，總是說凶信。」約沙法說：「請王不要這麼說。」

因此，你們這些傲慢的人，就是管轄住耶路撒冷這百姓的，要聽耶和華的話。你們曾說：「我們已與死亡立約，與陰間結盟，不可擋的鞭子揮過時，必不臨到我們；因我們以謊言為避難所，靠虛假來藏身」；

藐視訓言的，自取滅亡；敬畏誡命的，必得善報。

不聽我的勸戒，藐視我一切的責備，

禍哉！那些以虛假的繩子牽引罪孽，以套車的繩索緊拉罪惡的人。他們說：「任以色列的聖者急速前行，快快成就他的作為，好讓我們看看；任他的籌算臨近成就，好使我們知道。」

你們要說：『王如此說，把這個人關在監獄裏，使他受苦，吃不飽喝不足，直等到我平安回來。』」

人心多有計謀；惟有耶和華的籌算才能成就。

沒有人能以智慧、聰明、謀略抵擋耶和華。

這樣的人聽見這詛咒的話，心裏還慶幸，說：『我雖然隨着頑固的心行事，卻還是平安無事。』以致有水的和無水的都消滅了。耶和華必不願饒恕他；耶和華的怒氣與妒忌必向他如煙冒出，將這書上所寫的一切詛咒都加在他身上，耶和華也要從天下塗去他的名。耶和華又必照着寫在律法書上，約中的一切詛咒，將他從以色列眾支派中分別出來，使他遭受禍害。

我以公平為準繩，以公義為鉛垂線；冰雹必沖去謊言的避難所，大水必漫過藏身之處。你們與死亡所立的約必廢除，與陰間所結的盟不得堅立；不可擋的鞭子揮過時，你們必被踐踏。每逢它揮來，必將你們擄去；每早晨它必揮過，白晝黑夜都是如此。明白這信息的都必驚恐。」床榻短，人不能伸展；被子窄，人無從裹身。耶和華必興起，像在毗拉心山，他必發怒，如在基遍谷；為要做成他的工，就是非常的工，成就他的事，就是奇異的事。現在你們不可傲慢，免得捆綁你們的繩索更結實，因為我從萬軍之主耶和華那裏聽見，在全地施行滅絕的事已定。

其實你恨惡管教，將我的言語拋在腦後。

這書上的預言，若有人刪去甚麼，上帝必從這書上所記的生命樹和聖城刪去他的份。

說：「我為何恨惡管教，心裏輕看責備呢？

論到猶大王約雅敬你要說，耶和華如此說：你燒了這書卷，說：『你為甚麼在上面寫着，巴比倫王必要來毀滅這地，使這地絕了人民和牲畜呢？』所以耶和華論到猶大王約雅敬說：他後裔中必沒有人坐在大衛的寶座上；他的屍首必被拋棄，白天受炎熱，黑夜受寒霜。我必因他和他後裔，並他臣僕的罪孽懲罰他們。我要使我所說的一切災禍臨到他們和耶路撒冷的居民，並猶大人；只是他們不肯聽從。」

人屢次受責罰，仍然硬着頸項，他必頃刻被毀，無從醫治。
