Whenever Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll, the king cut them off with a scribe’s knife and threw them into the firepot, until the entire scroll was burned in the fire.

Jehudi read three or four sections from the scroll. Then the king cut them off with a secretary’s knife. He threw them into the fire pot. He did that until the entire scroll was burned up in the fire.

以色列王對約沙法說：『還有一個人、是音拉的兒子米該雅、我們可以託他尋問永恆主。不過我恨他，因為他傳神言論到我、總不說吉祥話，總是說不吉祥的話。』約沙法說：『請王不要這樣說。』

所以褻慢人哪，管轄這在耶路撒冷的人民的啊，你們要聽永恆主的話。因為你們曾說：『我們跟死亡立了約，我們同陰間結了盟；橫流猛漲的大水經過時，也不會淹到我們；因為我們以謊言為避難所，以虛假為隱匿處』；

藐視訓話的自取敗亡；敬畏誡命的必得善報。

他們不情願聽我的勸告；我的勸責他們都藐視；

有禍啊，那些以虛謊的繩索牽引着罪罰，像以套車粗繩拉罪之報應的人；那些譏誚着說：『任他迅速些，任他趕快成就他的作為，讓我們看看！任以色列之聖者所計畫的臨近，任它到來，讓我們知道！』

說：「王這麼說：『把這個人下在監裏，使他喫窘迫飯，喝窘迫水，直到我平平安安回來。』」

人心裏多有設計，惟獨永恆主的計畫才能立定。

沒有智慧、沒有明達、沒有謀略能敵得過永恆主。

聽見這咒詛的話，就心裏自己慶幸說：「我雖依着頑強之心而行，要把得澆灌的和乾旱的都掃滅掉，還是可得平安。」但是永恆主必不情願赦免這種人，永恆主的怒氣和妒憤反而要向這種人冒煙，而這書上所寫的這一切咒詛就都要伏在那人身上；永恆主又要將他的名從天下塗抹掉。永恆主必照寫在「這律法」書上之約的一切咒詛、將他從以色列眾族派中分別出來，使他受禍。

我必以公平為準繩，以公義為線鉈；暴冰雹必將謊言之避難所沖去，大水必漲溢橫流、漫過虛假之隱匿處。』那麼你們跟死亡所立的約就必被解除，你們跟陰間所結的盟就立不住；橫流猛漲的大水經過時，你們就必被蹂躪了。它經過時必把你抓去、足夠有餘；因為一早晨過一早晨總要經過；無論白天黑夜它總要橫行；要使人明白這消息、簡直是令人不寒而慄的。因為床鋪太短，手腳伸不直；手腳縮作一團，被窩又太窄。因為永恆主必興起，像在毘拉心山；他必發怒，像在基遍谷，好作他的工，不平凡的工，好成他的事，奇異的事。如今呢、你們不可褻慢，恐怕捆你的繩索綁得更緊；因為我聽見有毁滅之事、鐵定之事、要由主、萬軍之永恆主、去行於全地上。

你啊、你恨惡管教，卻將我的話丟在背後。

若有人從這神言傳講之書的話上除掉甚麼，上帝必從所記在這書上的生命樹和聖城、除掉他的分兒。』

說：『唉！我怎樣恨惡管教，我的心怎樣藐視勸責，

論到猶大王約雅敬你要說：「永恆主這麼說：你，你燒了這書卷，說：『你為甚麼在那上頭寫着說：巴比倫王一定會來，毁滅這地，使此地的人和牲口都從這上頭滅絕掉呢？』因此永恆主論猶大王約雅敬就這麼說：他後裔中必沒有人坐大衛的寶座；他的屍體必被拋擲出去，日間去受炎熱，夜裏去受寒霜。我必察罰他和他後裔及他臣僕的罪孽；我必使我所說要譴責他們、的一切災禍臨到他們和耶路撒冷的居民及猶大人；無奈他們不聽。」』

屢次受責罰、仍然硬着脖子的、頃刻間必破敗，無法可治。
