Whenever Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll, the king cut them off with a scribe’s knife and threw them into the firepot, until the entire scroll was burned in the fire.

Jehudi read three or four sections from the scroll. Then the king cut them off with a secretary’s knife. He threw them into the fire pot. He did that until the entire scroll was burned up in the fire.

告之曰、王命拘此夫於獄、食以艱苦之餅、飲以艱苦之水、待我安歸、

人心多謀、惟耶和華之志必成、

智慧明哲謀畧、無有能敵耶和華者、

聞此詛言、猶中心自慰曰、我雖剛愎自用、渴時痛飲、亦可獲安、若此者、耶和華必不赦宥、其怒與忌、如烟之出、必攻斯人、以書所載之詛、加乎其身、塗其名於天下、在以色列諸支派中、耶和華必區別之、循律書所載約中之詛言、加以禍害、

我將以公為繩、以義為準、欺誑之避所、雹必毀之、虛偽之匿所、水必淹之、爾與死亡所結之約必廢、爾與陰府所訂之盟、必不堅立、凶災流行之時、爾被蹂躪、每屆流行、必及於爾、朝朝流行、無間晝夜、明曉斯道、惟有悚惶、榻短不能舒體、被狹不能蔽身、蓋耶和華興起、如在比拉心山、震怒如在基遍谷、以行其事、其事非常、且成其功、其功奇異、故勿侮慢、恐縲絏加嚴、蓋我聞毀滅之命、將行於天下、由於萬軍之主耶和華焉、○

實則厭我訓誨、委我言於後兮、

或删減之、上帝必由此書所錄維生之樹及聖邑而擯棄之、○

乃曰、我何恨惡訓誨、心輕斥責、

且論猶大王約雅敬曰、耶和華云、爾焚其卷曰、汝奚錄於上云、巴比倫王必至、毀滅斯土、使其人畜俱泯、故耶和華論猶大王約雅敬曰、彼必無人坐大衛之位、其屍被擲於外、晝受暑、夜經霜、我必因其罪愆罰之、與其子孫臣僕、降所言之災於彼、及耶路撒冷居民、猶大之眾、而彼不聽、

屢受斥責、仍復強項、敗亡必速、無術可治、
