Whenever Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll, the king cut them off with a scribe’s knife and threw them into the firepot, until the entire scroll was burned in the fire.

Jehudi read three or four sections from the scroll. Then the king cut them off with a secretary’s knife. He threw them into the fire pot. He did that until the entire scroll was burned up in the fire.

As Jehudi read three or four columns, the king would cut them off with a knife and throw them into the fire in the fire pot, until the entire scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the fire pot.

Each time Jehudi finished reading three or four columns, the king took a knife and cut off that section of the scroll. He then threw it into the fire, section by section, until the whole scroll was burned up.

所以，你們這些褻慢的人，就是轄管住在耶路撒冷這百姓的，要聽耶和華的話。你們曾說：我們與死亡立約，與陰間結盟；敵軍如水漲漫經過的時候，必不臨到我們；因我們以謊言為避所，在虛假以下藏身。

藐視訓言的，自取滅亡；敬畏誡命的，必得善報。

不聽我的勸戒，藐視我一切的責備，

禍哉！那些以虛假之細繩牽罪孽的人！他們又像以套繩拉罪惡，說：任他急速行，趕快成就他的作為，使我們看看；任以色列聖者所謀劃的臨近成就，使我們知道。

王如此說，把這個人下在監裏，使他受苦，吃不飽喝不足，等候我平平安安地回來。」

人心多有計謀；惟有耶和華的籌算才能立定。

沒有人能以智慧、聰明、謀略敵擋耶和華。

聽見這咒詛的話，心裏仍是自誇說：『我雖然行事心裏頑梗，連累眾人，卻還是平安。』耶和華必不饒恕他；耶和華的怒氣與憤恨要向他發作，如煙冒出，將這書上所寫的一切咒詛都加在他身上。耶和華又要從天下塗抹他的名，也必照着寫在律法書上、約中的一切咒詛將他從以色列眾支派中分別出來，使他受禍。

我必以公平為準繩，以公義為線鉈。冰雹必沖去謊言的避所；大水必漫過藏身之處。你們與死亡所立的約必然廢掉，與陰間所結的盟必立不住。敵軍如水漲漫經過的時候，你們必被他踐踏；每逢經過必將你們擄去。因為每早晨他必經過，白晝黑夜都必如此。明白傳言的必受驚恐。原來，牀榻短，使人不能舒身；被窩窄，使人不能遮體。耶和華必興起，像在毗拉心山；他必發怒，像在基遍谷，好做成他的工，就是非常的工；成就他的事，就是奇異的事。現在你們不可褻慢，恐怕捆你們的綁索更結實了；因為我從主－萬軍之耶和華那裏聽見，已經決定在全地上施行滅絕的事。

其實你恨惡管教，將我的言語丟在背後。

這書上的預言，若有人刪去甚麼，神必從這書上所寫的生命樹和聖城刪去他的分。

說：我怎麼恨惡訓誨，心中藐視責備，

論到猶大王約雅敬你要說，耶和華如此說：你燒了書卷，說：『你為甚麼在其上寫着，說巴比倫王必要來毀滅這地，使這地上絕了人民牲畜呢？』所以耶和華論到猶大王約雅敬說：他後裔中必沒有人坐在大衛的寶座上；他的屍首必被拋棄，白日受炎熱，黑夜受寒霜。我必因他和他後裔，並他臣僕的罪孽刑罰他們。我要使我所說的一切災禍臨到他們和耶路撒冷的居民，並猶大人；只是他們不聽。」

人屢次受責罰，仍然硬着頸項；他必頃刻敗壞，無法可治。
