Also you must never build houses, sow seed or plant vineyards; you must never have any of these things, but must always live in tents. Then you will live a long time in the land where you are nomads.’

『要孝敬你的父親和母親，使你亨通，在地上長壽』：這是第一條帶着應許的誡命。

兩個孩子漸漸長大；以掃很懂得打獵，是個田野的人；雅各為人安靜；他常住在帳棚裏。

『要孝敬你的父親和母親，使你在永恆主你的上帝所賜給你的土地得享長壽。

別醉酒了（醉中有放蕩），卻要充充滿滿地滿有聖靈。

因着信、他僑居在應許之地做外人，在帳棚裏居住；跟同做後嗣而承受這同一應許的以撒雅各在一起；因為他期待着那有根基的城，就是上帝做其設計者和建造者的。因着信、連撒拉雖過了生育歲數的時期，還能獲得能力而孕懷後裔，因為她以那發應許的為可信可靠；故此竟從一個人、又是彷彿死了的、生出子孫來，像天上的星辰那麼眾多，像海濱的沙那麼無數。這些人都是存着信心而死，沒有領受所應許的，乃是遠遠望見而致敬，承認自己在地上是旅客是寄居的。

親愛的，我勸你們做僑民做寄居的、要禁戒那對你們的靈魂交戰的肉體私慾；

你們要住在樹枝棚子裏七天；凡在以色列中的本地人都要住在樹枝棚子裏，好叫你們世世代代知道我領以色列人出埃及地的時候、曾使他們住在樹枝棚子裏；我永恆主你們的上帝。』

我們只住帳棚，都聽從遺訓，按照我們先祖約拿達所吩咐我們的一切話而行。

他們見律法上寫着；就是永恆主由摩西經手所吩咐，叫以色列人要在七月節上住在樹枝棚裏；叫他們要在各城市和耶路撒冷宣告，將布告傳播出去，說：『你們要出去到山上，將橄欖樹的枝葉、多脂柏樹的枝葉、桃金孃樹的枝葉、棕樹的枝葉、和茂密樹的枝葉取來，照經上所寫的來搭樹枝棚子。』於是人民出去取來，各人在自己的房頂上搭了樹枝棚子，或是在自己的院子裏，或是在上帝的院中，或是在水門廣場上，或是以法蓮門廣場上。
