你们也不可建造房屋，不可撒种，不可栽种或拥有葡萄园；你们一生的日子只可住帐棚，使你们在寄居的地上活得长久。’

Also you must never build houses, sow seed or plant vineyards; you must never have any of these things, but must always live in tents. Then you will live a long time in the land where you are nomads.’

“要孝敬父母，使你得福，在世长寿。”这是第一条带着应许的诫命。

两个孩子渐渐长大；以扫善于打猎，喜欢生活在田野；雅各为人安静，常常住在帐棚里。

“要孝敬父母，使你在耶和华你的神赐给你的地上得享长寿。

不要醉酒，醉酒能使人放荡乱性，却要让圣灵充满。

因着信，他在应许之地寄居，好像是在异乡，与承受同样应许的以撒、雅各一样住在帐棚里。因为他等待那座有根基的城，就是神所设计所建造的。因着信，甚至撒拉，她虽然过了生育的年龄，还是能够怀孕，因为她认为那应许她的是信实的。所以从一个好像已死的人，竟然生出许多子孙来，仿佛天上的星那么众多，海边的沙那么无数。这些人都是存着信心死了的，还没有得着所应许的，只不过是从远处看见，就表示欢迎，又承认他们在世上是异乡人，是客旅。

亲爱的，我劝你们作客旅和寄居的人，要禁戒肉体的私欲，这私欲是与灵魂争战的。

你们要住在棚里七天；以色列所有的本地人都要住在棚里，好叫你们世世代代知道，我领以色列人出埃及地的时候，曾经使他们住在棚里；我是耶和华你们的神。”

我们只住帐棚；我们听从祖先约拿达吩咐我们的一切话，并且照着去行。

他们发现律法上记载，耶和华曾藉着摩西吩咐以色列人，要在七月的节期中，住在棚里，并且要在自己的城里和在耶路撒冷宣扬布告说：“你们要上到山上，把橄榄树枝、油木树枝、番石榴枝、棕树枝和树叶繁茂大树的枝子带回来，照着律法所写的搭棚。”于是众民出去，把树枝带回来，各人在自己的房顶上，在院子里，神的院中，水门的广场，或是在以法莲门的广场搭棚。
