But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine,[ neither ye], nor your sons for ever:

彼曰、我儕不飲酒、緣我祖利甲子約拿達命我曰、爾及子孫、永勿飲酒、

彼曰、我儕不飲、蓋我祖哩甲子約拿撻、禁予曰、爾及子孫、勿飲酒、歷世弗易。

曰、我儕不飲酒、因我祖利甲子約拿達、戒我曰、爾歷代勿飲酒、至於永遠、

But they replied,“ We do not drink wine, because our forefather Jehonadab son of Rekab gave us this command:‘ Neither you nor your descendants must ever drink wine.

But they replied,“ We don’t drink wine. That’s because Jehonadab gave us a command. He was the son of Rekab. He was also one of our own people from long ago. He commanded,‘ You and your children after you must never drink wine.

But they answered,“ We will drink no wine, for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us,‘ You shall not drink wine, neither you nor your sons forever.

but they refused.“ No,” they said,“ we don’t drink wine, because our ancestor Jehonadab son of Recab gave us this command:‘ You and your descendants must never drink wine.

But they replied,“ We do not drink wine, for Jonadab, son of our ancestor Rechab, commanded,‘ You and your descendants must never drink wine.

But they said,“ We will not drink wine, for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying,‘ You shall not drink wine, you or your sons, forever.

But they said,“ We will drink no wine, for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying,‘ You shall drink no wine, you nor your sons, forever.

But they said, We will drink no wine; for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons, for ever:

But they replied,“ We do not drink wine, for Jonadab, son of our ancestor Rechab, commanded:‘ You and your sons must never drink wine.

But they answered,“ We do not drink wine because our ancestor Jonadab son of Rechab commanded us not to. He told us,‘ You and your children must never drink wine.

But they said,“ We will drink no wine; for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying,‘ You shall drink no wine, neither you, nor your sons, forever.

And when he was departed thence, he lighted on Jehonadab the son of Rechab[ coming] to meet him: and he saluted him, and said to him, Is thine heart right, as my heart[ is] with thy heart? And Jehonadab answered, It is. If it be, give[ me] thine hand. And he gave[ him] his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.

For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.

Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die:[ it shall be] a statute for ever throughout your generations:

And the families of the scribes which dwelt at Jabez; the Tirathites, the Shimeathites,[ and] Suchathites. These[ are] the Kenites that came of Hemath, the father of the house of Rechab.

She may not eat of any[ thing] that cometh of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean[ thing]: all that I commanded her let her observe.

But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean[ thing]: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death.

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall separate[ themselves] to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate[ themselves] unto the LORD:He shall separate[ himself] from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the husk.All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth[ himself] unto the LORD, he shall be holy,[ and] shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.

Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths:That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I[ am] the LORD your God.

I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress,[ I say], that[ it is] good for a man so to be.Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.But this I say, brethren, the time[ is] short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;And they that use this world, as not abusing[ it]: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

But we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.

When ye were but few, even a few, and strangers in it.

Honour thy father and mother;( which is the first commandment with promise;)That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob[ was] a plain man, dwelling in tents.

When they were[ but] a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.

Dearly beloved, I beseech[ you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

And Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Baal, and said unto the worshippers of Baal, Search, and look that there be here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but the worshippers of Baal only.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

And they found written in the law which the LORD had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month:And that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth unto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as[ it is] written.So the people went forth, and brought[ them], and made themselves booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the street of the water gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephraim.

For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle.

By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as[ in] a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker[ is] God.Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead,[ so many] as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of[ them], and embraced[ them], and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
