But when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against the land, we said,‘ Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans and the army of the Syrians.’ So we are living in Jerusalem.”

But when King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon attacked this country, we were afraid of the Babylonian and Syrian armies. So we decided to move to Jerusalem. That is why we are here.”

我們為甚麼靜坐不動呢？聚集攏來哦，我們好進入有堡壘的城，在那裏寂滅掉；因為永恆主我們的上帝命定我們寂滅，將毒苦水給我們喝，因為我們犯罪得罪了永恆主。

你們要在猶大宣告，要在耶路撒冷公布說：『要在境內吹號角，高聲呼叫說：「你們要聚集攏來，我們好進入有堡壘的城！」要向錫安豎起旌旗；要逃難，不要躭擱；因為我必使災禍及大破毁從北方來到。有獅子從其叢藪中上來了，有毁壞列國的已經起身；他從他的地方出發，要使你的地荒涼，使你的城市倒壞，無人居住。

當約雅敬在位的日子、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒上來，約雅敬臣服了他三年；然後掉轉背叛他。永恆主打發迦勒底人的遊擊隊、亞蘭人的遊擊隊、摩押人的遊擊隊、和亞捫人的遊擊隊：他打發這些人來攻擊猶大、要毁滅它，正如永恆主的話，由他僕人神言人們經手所說過的。

猶大王約雅敬執掌國政之第三年、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒來到耶路撒冷，將耶路撒冷圍困住。主將猶大王約雅敬和上帝殿中一部分的器皿交在他手裏，他就把這些器皿帶到示拿地、他的神廟裏，將器皿帶進他神廟的庫房中。

『你們幾時看見那「引致荒涼的可憎之像」立在不當立的地方（誦讀的人須要了悟啊），那時在猶太的就要逃到山上；

『你們幾時看見耶路撒冷被軍隊圍着，那時就可以知道她的荒涼近了。那時在猶太的，要逃到山上；在城中的、要退出來；在鄉下的、不要進城。
