如購爾同族、希百來人為僕、事爾六年、既屆七年、例當釋之、然我有言、爾祖不傾耳以聽。

如爾同族希伯來人、被鬻於爾為奴、但事爾六年、屆第七年、爾當釋之離爾、任其自由、惟爾列祖不聽我、不傾耳以聽、

‘ Every seventh year each of you must free any fellow Hebrews who have sold themselves to you. After they have served you six years, you must let them go free.’ Your ancestors, however, did not listen to me or pay attention to me.

‘ Every seventh year you must set your people free. Each of you must set free all the Hebrews who have sold themselves to you. Let them serve you for six years. Then you must let them go free.’( Deuteronomy 15:12) But your people of long ago did not listen to me. They did not pay any attention to me.

‘ At the end of seven years each of you must set free the fellow Hebrew who has been sold to you and has served you six years; you must set him free from your service.’ But your fathers did not listen to me or incline their ears to me.

I told them that every Hebrew slave must be freed after serving six years. But your ancestors paid no attention to me.

‘ At the end of seven years, each of you must let his fellow Hebrew who sold himself to you go. He may serve you six years, but then you must let him go free from your service.’ But your ancestors did not obey me or pay any attention.

“ At the end of seven years each of you shall set free his Hebrew brother who has been sold to you and has served you for six years, and you shall send him out free from you.” But your forefathers did not obey Me nor incline their ear to Me.

“ At the end of seven years let every man set free his Hebrew brother, who has been sold to him; and when he has served you six years, you shall let him go free from you.” But your fathers did not obey Me nor incline their ear.

At the end of seven years ye shall let go every man his brother that is a Hebrew, that hath been sold unto thee, and hath served thee six years, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear.

耶和華對撒母耳說：“眾民對你所說的一切，你只管聽從，因為他們不是厭棄你，而是厭棄我，不要我作他們的王。自從我把他們從埃及領上來的那天起，直到現在，他們怎樣離開我，事奉別的神，他們對我所行的一切，也照樣對你行。

至於以色列人，所羅門卻沒有使他們作奴僕，而是作他的戰士、臣僕、統領、軍長、戰車長和騎兵長。

耶和華曾藉著他的眾先知和先見警告以色列人和猶大人說：“從你們的惡道上轉回吧！謹守我的吩咐和我的律例，就是我曾吩咐你們的祖先，和藉著我的僕人眾先知傳遞給你們的一切律法。”可是他們不聽從，反而硬著自己的頸項，好像他們的祖先，不信服耶和華他們的神；

我們用銀子買窮人，用一雙鞋換取窮乏人；連麥碎也賣掉。”

現在你們又想強迫猶大人和耶路撒冷人作你們的奴婢。難道你們自己就沒有得罪耶和華你們的神嗎？

事實上，以色列人和猶大人自幼以來，就專行我眼中看為惡的事；以色列人的手所作的，無不惹我發怒。’這是耶和華的宣告。

只是從來沒有人像亞哈的；他受了他妻子耶洗別的引誘，出賣了他自己，行耶和華看為惡的事。

“六年之內你要耕種田地，收取地的出產；但是第七年，你要讓地歇息，不耕不種，使你民間的窮人可以有吃的；他們吃剩的，田間的野獸可以吃；你的葡萄園和橄欖園，也要這樣作。

耶和華這樣說：“我離棄了你們的母親，休書在哪裡呢？或者我的債主中，哪一個是我把你們賣了給他的呢？看哪！你們被賣是因你們的罪孽；你們的母親被離棄是因你們的過犯。

自從你們列祖出埃及地的那日直到今日，我差遣我的僕人眾先知到你們那裡去，而且是每日不斷差遣。你們（“你們”原文作“他們”）卻沒有聽從，毫不留心，反倒硬著頸項行惡，比你們（“你們”原文作“他們”）的列祖還厲害。

但是他們背叛了我，不肯聽從我；他們各人沒有拋棄他們眼中那些可憎的像，沒有離棄埃及的偶像。“‘那時我說，我要把我的烈怒傾倒在他們身上，在埃及地向他們完全發盡我的怒氣。

西底家王和在耶路撒冷的眾民立了約，要向奴僕宣告自由。人人都要釋放自己的希伯來奴婢；誰也不可使自己的一位猶大兄弟作奴僕。（這事以後，從耶和華那裡有話臨到耶利米。）

你多年容忍他們，你的靈藉著你的眾先知勸戒他們，他們還是不側耳而聽，所以你把他們交在各地的民族手中。

人子啊，你要審問他們嗎？要審問他們嗎？你要使他們知道他們列祖那些可憎的事，

他們卻戲弄神的使者，藐視他的話，譏誚他的先知，以致耶和華的忿怒臨到他的子民身上，直到無法挽救。

我這個人真是苦啊！誰能救我脫離這使我死亡的身體呢？

我們知道律法是屬靈的，我卻是屬肉體的，已經賣給罪了。因為我所作的，我不明白；我所願意的，我沒有去作，我所恨惡的，我倒去作。如果我所不願意的，我倒去作，我就不得不承認律法是好的。既是這樣，那就不是我作的，而是住在我裡面的罪作的。

我所揀選的禁食不是這樣嗎？不是要鬆開兇惡的鎖鍊，解開軛上的繩索，使被壓迫的獲得自由，折斷所有的軛嗎？

“你要在眾民面前訂立的典章是這樣的。如果你買希伯來人作奴僕，他要服事你六年；到第七年他可以自由出去，不必補償甚麼。他若是單身來，就可以單身出去；他若是有婦之夫，他的妻子就可以和他同去。他的主人若是給他妻子，妻子又給他生了兒女，那麼妻子和兒女都要歸給主人，他自己要單獨出去。

他們卻不聽從，毫不留心，各人隨從自己頑梗的惡心行事。所以，我使這約中一切咒詛的話臨到他們身上。我曾吩咐他們遵行這約，他們卻不遵行。’”耶和華又對我說：“在猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民中間，有背叛的陰謀。他們回到他們祖先所犯的罪孽中。他們的祖先不肯聽從我的話，卻隨從事奉別的神。以色列家和猶大家都違犯了我和他們列祖所立的約。”

但他們不肯聽從，反而硬著頸項，充耳不聞（“反而硬著頸項，充耳不聞”直譯是“轉着固執的肩膊，使自己的耳朵發沉不聽”）。他們使自己的心剛硬如金鋼石，不肯聽從律法和萬軍之耶和華藉著他的靈、透過從前的先知所說的話。因此，萬軍之耶和華非常忿怒。

“耶和華這樣說：‘以色列三番四次犯罪，我必不收回懲罰他的命令；因為他為了銀子賣義人，為了一雙鞋賣窮人。
