Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, and all his armies were fighting against Jerusalem. They were also fighting against all the towns around it. All the kingdoms and nations Nebuchadnezzar ruled over were helping him. At that time a message from the Lord came to Jeremiah. The Lord said,

The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army and all the kingdoms of the earth under his dominion and all the peoples were fighting against Jerusalem and all of its cities:

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came with all the armies from the kingdoms he ruled, and he fought against Jerusalem and the towns of Judah. At that time this message came to Jeremiah from the Lord:

The LORD spoke to Jeremiah while King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon was attacking Jerusalem and the towns around it with a large army. This army consisted of troops from his own army and from the kingdoms and peoples of the lands under his dominion.

The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, with all his army, all the kingdoms of the earth that were under his dominion, and all the peoples, were fighting against Jerusalem and against all its cities, saying:

西底家作王第九年十月初十，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒率領全軍前來攻擊耶路撒冷，對城安營，四圍築堡壘攻城。城被圍困，直到西底家王十一年。四月初九，城裏的饑荒非常嚴重，當地的百姓都沒有糧食。城被攻破，士兵全都在夜間從靠近王的花園、兩城牆中間的門逃跑。迦勒底人正在四圍攻城，王就往亞拉巴逃去。迦勒底的軍隊追趕王，在耶利哥的平原追上他；他的全軍都離開他潰散了。迦勒底人就拿住王，帶他到利比拉的巴比倫王那裏；他們就判他的罪。他們在西底家眼前殺了他的兒女，挖了西底家的眼睛，用銅鏈鎖着他，帶到巴比倫去。巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒十九年五月初七，巴比倫王的臣僕尼布撒拉旦護衛長進入耶路撒冷，他焚燒了耶和華的殿、王宮和耶路撒冷一切的房屋；用火焚燒所有大戶人家的房屋。

尼布甲尼撒王對住在全地各方、各國、各族的人說：「願你們大享平安！

我用大能和伸出來的膀臂創造大地和地上的人民、牲畜。我看給誰合適，就把地給誰。現在我將全地都交在我僕人巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒手中，也把野地的走獸給他使用。列國都要服事他和他的子孫，直到他本國遭報的日期來到；那時，許多國家和大君王要使他作奴隸。

猶大王西底家第九年十月，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒率領全軍前來圍困耶路撒冷。西底家十一年四月初九日，城被攻破。耶路撒冷被攻下的時候，巴比倫王的眾官長，尼甲‧沙利薛、三甲‧尼波、撒西金將軍、尼甲‧沙利薛將軍，並巴比倫王其餘的官長都來坐在中門。

那時，巴比倫王的軍隊正攻打耶路撒冷，又攻打猶大僅存的城鎮，就是拉吉和亞西加；原來猶大的堅固城只剩下這兩座。

他行耶和華－他神眼中看為惡的事，沒有謙卑聽從耶利米先知所傳達耶和華的話。尼布甲尼撒王曾叫他指着神起誓，他卻背叛，硬着頸項，內心頑固，不歸向耶和華－以色列的神。眾祭司長和百姓也多多犯罪，效法列國一切可憎的事，玷污耶和華在耶路撒冷分別為聖的殿。耶和華－他們列祖的神因為愛惜自己的百姓和居所，一再差遣使者去警戒他們。他們卻嘲笑神的使者，藐視他的話，譏誚他的先知，以致耶和華向他的百姓大發烈怒，甚至無法可救。所以，耶和華使迦勒底人的王來攻擊他們，在他們聖殿裏用刀殺了他們的壯丁，不憐憫他們的少男少女、老人長者。耶和華把所有的人都交在他手裏。

「王啊，這成長又茁壯的樹就是你。你的威勢成長及於天，你的權柄達到地極。

因神所賜給他的大權，各方、各國、各族的人都在他面前恐懼戰兢，因他要殺就殺，要人活就活，要升就升，要降就降。
