城中的人与迦勒底人争战只会使自己的房屋堆满死尸，因为我要在愤怒中毁灭他们。他们作恶多端，我必掩面不理这城。

上帝的灵感动了耶何耶大祭司的儿子撒迦利亚，他便站在高处对民众说：“耶和华上帝这样说，‘你们为什么违反耶和华的诫命，以致不得亨通呢？既然你们背弃我，我也必离弃你们。’”

以色列的上帝耶和华说，‘看啊，你们与围城的巴比伦王及其率领的迦勒底人作战，我要把你们的兵器掉转过来，我要把它们收集在城中心。我要在烈怒中伸出大能的臂膀下手击打你们，

任何智慧、悟性和谋略，都不能对抗耶和华。
