Zedekiah king of Judah will not escape the Babylonians but will certainly be given into the hands of the king of Babylon, and will speak with him face to face and see him with his own eyes.

Zedekiah, the king of Judah, will not escape from the powerful hands of the armies of Babylon. He will certainly be handed over to the king of Babylon. Zedekiah will speak with him face to face. He will see him with his own eyes.

Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him face to face and see him eye to eye.

King Zedekiah will be captured by the Babylonians and taken to meet the king of Babylon face to face.

猶大王西底迦和所有軍兵見勢不妙，便在夜間穿過御花園，從兩城牆中間的門逃往亞拉巴。但迦勒底的軍隊追上來，在耶利哥的平原擒住西底迦，把他帶到哈馬的利比拉去見巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒，接受審判。巴比倫王在利比拉當著西底迦的面殺了他的眾子和猶大所有的貴族，並且挖去他的雙眼，把他用銅鏈鎖著帶到巴比倫。

後來，西底迦王派人把他帶到自己的宮中，私下問他：「耶和華有什麼話給你嗎？」耶利米說：「有，你要被交在巴比倫王手中。」

城被攻破，城裡的所有士兵便在夜間穿過御花園，從兩城牆中間的門逃往亞拉巴。當時迦勒底人仍四面包圍著城。迦勒底軍隊追趕西底迦，在耶利哥平原追上了他，他的軍隊都四散而逃。迦勒底人擒住西底迦，把他押到利比拉見巴比倫王，在那裡審判他。巴比倫王在西底迦面前殺了他的眾子，又剜去他的雙眼，把他用銅鏈鎖著押往巴比倫。

並從猶大王室中選出一人與他立約，要他效忠。巴比倫王擄去猶大國的重臣，使猶大國臣服於他，無法圖強，只能遵守盟約，以求生存。後來，猶大王背叛了巴比倫王，派使者到埃及請求支援軍隊馬匹。他能成功嗎？他這樣做怎能逃脫懲罰呢？他這樣背約怎能逃脫懲罰呢？「我憑我的永恆起誓，巴比倫王立他做王，他卻棄約背誓，他必死在巴比倫。敵人築起圍攻的土壘和高臺大肆殺戮的時候，法老雖然兵強馬壯，人多勢眾，仍無法幫他抗敵。他起誓降服，卻棄約背誓，所以絕不能逃避後果。因此，主耶和華說，『我憑我的永恆起誓，他既藐視與我所立的誓言，背棄與我所定的約，我必懲罰他。我要撒開網羅抓住他，把他帶到巴比倫，審判他對我不忠的罪。他所有的精兵都要喪身刀下，餘下的也要四散逃竄。這樣，你們就知道這是我耶和華說的。

迦勒底的軍隊追趕西底迦，在耶利哥平原追上了他。他的軍隊都四散而逃。迦勒底人擒住西底迦，把他押到哈馬的利比拉去見巴比倫王。巴比倫王在那裡審判他，當著他的面殺了他的眾子和猶大所有的首領，又剜去他的雙眼，用銅鏈鎖著他押往巴比倫，將他終生囚在牢裡。

你這邪惡敗壞的以色列首領啊！你的結局到了，審判你的日子來了。』主耶和華說，『取下你的頭巾，摘下你的冠冕吧，時局轉變了。要提拔卑微的，貶抑高貴的。

他們當中的首領必在黑夜背著行裝出發，在牆上挖洞鑽出去，而且必蒙著臉，看不見地。我必撒開網羅捕捉他，把他帶到迦勒底人的巴比倫。他必看不見那地方，卻要死在那裡。
