Here is what you people of Judah are saying about this city.“ By war, hunger and plague it will be handed over to the king of Babylon.” But here is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says.

“ Now therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning this city of which you say,‘ It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by sword, by famine, and by pestilence’:

“ Now I want to say something more about this city. You have been saying,‘ It will fall to the king of Babylon through war, famine, and disease.’ But this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:

“ Now therefore, this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says to this city about which you said,‘ It has been handed over to Babylon’s king through sword, famine, and plague’:

“ Now therefore the Lord God of Israel says the following concerning this city of which you say,‘ It has been handed over to the king of Babylon by sword, by famine, and by plague’:

“ Now therefore, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning this city of which you say,‘ It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:

“ You and your people are right in saying,‘ War, starvation, and disease are sure to make this city fall into the hands of the king of Babylon.’ But now I, the LORD God of Israel, have something further to say about this city:

Now therefore Yahweh, the God of Israel, says concerning this city, about which you say,“ It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:”

“ See how the siege ramps are built up to take the city. Because of the sword, famine and plague, the city will be given into the hands of the Babylonians who are attacking it. What you said has happened, as you now see.

Now Zedekiah king of Judah had imprisoned him there, saying,“ Why do you prophesy as you do? You say,‘ This is what the Lord says: I am about to give this city into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he will capture it.

Therefore this is what the Lord says: I am about to give this city into the hands of the Babylonians and to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who will capture it.

All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions— it is by grace you have been saved.

Then you will remember your evil ways and wicked deeds, and you will loathe yourselves for your sins and detestable practices.I want you to know that I am not doing this for your sake, declares the Sovereign Lord. Be ashamed and disgraced for your conduct, people of Israel!

“ Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her.

But you have behaved more wickedly than your ancestors. See how all of you are following the stubbornness of your evil hearts instead of obeying me.So I will throw you out of this land into a land neither you nor your ancestors have known, and there you will serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favor.’“ However, the days are coming,” declares the Lord,“ when it will no longer be said,‘ As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,’but it will be said,‘ As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.’ For I will restore them to the land I gave their ancestors.

The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,

You have not bought any fragrant calamus for me, or lavished on me the fat of your sacrifices. But you have burdened me with your sins and wearied me with your offenses.“ I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.

I was enraged by their sinful greed; I punished them, and hid my face in anger, yet they kept on in their willful ways.I have seen their ways, but I will heal them; I will guide them and restore comfort to Israel’s mourners,
