蓋耶利米曾曰、耶和華云、我將付此城於巴比倫王、使彼取之、猶大王西底家不能脫於迦勒底人手、必解至巴比倫王前、詰問研究、曳至巴比倫、居彼、待我耶和華眷顧之、爾曹雖戰巴比倫軍、必不獲利。西底家王聞之、怒其言不利、故下之於獄。

因为犹大王西底家已将他囚禁，说：“你为什么预言说，耶和华如此说：‘我必将这城交在巴比伦王的手中，他必攻取这城。

For King Zedekiah had confined Jeremiah there after he had reproved him for prophesying as he did. He had asked Jeremiah,“ Why do you keep prophesying these things? Why do you keep saying that the LORD says,‘ I will hand this city over to the king of Babylon? I will let him capture it.

For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying,“ Why do you prophesy, and say,‘ Yahweh says,“ Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will take it;

以色列族之上帝耶和華曰、巴比倫王、及迦勒底人、環繞爾邑、爾雖與戰、我必使爾倒戈、使迦勒底人入於斯邑。我忿怒殊烈、必以巨力大能攻爾。斯邑之民人牲畜、必降瘟疫、以擊之、俾其死亡。耶和華曰、嗣後猶大王西底家、與邑中所遺之臣民、不戮於鋒刃、斃於瘟疫、死於饑饉者、我必付之於敵人、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒之手、俾以鋒刃殺戮、不加矜恤。

耶利米以耶和華所命者、悉告庶民、其言既竟、祭司先知、與眾民執之、曰、爾罪當死、爾何藉耶和華名、言此殿必見棄、如示羅然、此邑必荒蕪、無人居處、眾民集於耶和華殿、攻耶利米。

耶和華又曰、我必以斯邑付於巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒、及迦勒底人手、攻陷斯邑而燬之、昔斯邑之民、曾在樓巔焚香、以奉巴力、灌奠以事他上帝、干我震怒、故火焚其樓。

患難之際、亞哈士王愈犯耶和華、

耶和華又曰、凡諸邦國、不肯服軛、事巴比倫王、尼布甲尼撒者、必以鋒刃、饑饉瘟疫罰之、翦滅務盡。

王曰、摩西亞倫奚為阻民操作、爾往、仍為負戴。

吾督責爾赤子、仍不受教、使我徒勞、惟爾手刃先知、若猛獅吞噬。

耶和華諭耶利米曰、以色列族之上帝耶和華云、猶大王既遣爾、諮諏於我、爾當告之曰、法老之軍旅、雖來輔翼、終歸埃及、迦勒底人必復至、攻陷斯邑、取而焚之。耶和華又曰、勿自欺云、迦勒底人將去、蓋彼無去志。浸假攻爾之迦勒底人、為爾所擊、其軍中惟遺被傷之卒、偃於幕下、亦能起、燬斯邑。

請告我、爾以何權行是、賜爾斯權者誰耶、

百姓聳動與長老士子、突至執之、曳至公會、設證誣之曰、此人僭妄聖所律法不已、我儕曾聞其言曰、拿撒勒耶穌、將毀此所、改摩西所授之例也、

王曰、今日必斬沙法子以利沙首、不然願上帝降罰於我。以利沙坐於室、長老偕在、其時王遣使者未至、以利沙謂長老曰、爾觀此戕民者之子、遣人取我首級。使者既至、汝當閉門而執之、其主必繼至。

耶和華與、爾之鑒觀不爽、加以督責、彼不哀慟、殲滅殆盡、彼不受教、彼顏堅於石、不肯歸誠。

則出宮覲王曰、

諸牧伯奏王曰、斯人所言、邑中武士百姓、無不喪膽、以若所云、於民不利、可殺之。

毋在伯特利播言、此處王之聖所、宮闕在焉。
