西底家王命人幽耶利米於外獄、曰、於烘餅街、取餅一方、與之食、邑中餅盡、然後已。於是耶利米居於外獄。

烏賽子巴拉修葺邑隅之前、附王高宮之戍樓、近於狴犴。其次巴綠子比太亞修葺。

眾乃執耶利米、解於外獄、哈米勒子馬勒家室有井、以繩縋之下、井無水、惟有淤泥、耶利米遂淖於泥中。

時耶利米猶在外獄、耶和華復命之曰、

未幾、我叔之子哈拿滅、至外獄見我、應耶和華言、彼謂我曰、便雅憫地、亞拿突邑、我有田畝、所當贖者、惟爾一人、請為我贖之、業可歸爾、我聽此、知耶和華所使、

當欣喜歡樂、以在天爾得賞者大也、蓋人窘逐先知、自昔然矣、○

耶利米告巴錄曰、我囚於獄、不能詣耶和華殿。

蓋耶利米曾曰、耶和華云、我將付此城於巴比倫王、使彼取之、猶大王西底家不能脫於迦勒底人手、必解至巴比倫王前、詰問研究、曳至巴比倫、居彼、待我耶和華眷顧之、爾曹雖戰巴比倫軍、必不獲利。西底家王聞之、怒其言不利、故下之於獄。

侍衛長尼布撒喇擔宦官長布尼殺班、博士長尼甲沙哩設、與巴比倫王諸牧伯、遣人至外獄。召耶利米、使與沙番孫亞希甘子其大利同歸故土、居於民間。耶利米猶在外獄之時、耶和華諭之曰、
