於是，西底家王下令，他們就把耶利米交在護衛兵的院中，每天從餅舖街取一個餅給他，直到城中的餅用盡了。這樣，耶利米仍在護衛兵的院中。

烏賽的兒子巴拉修造對着城牆的轉彎和王上宮凸出來的城樓，靠近護衛院的那一段。其次是巴錄的兒子毗大雅修造。（

他們就拿住耶利米，下在哈米勒的兒子瑪基雅的牢獄裏；那牢獄在護衛兵的院中。他們用繩子將耶利米繫下去。牢獄裏沒有水，只有淤泥，耶利米就陷在淤泥中。

耶利米還囚在護衛兵的院內，耶和華的話第二次臨到他說：

我叔叔的兒子哈拿篾果然照耶和華的話來到護衛兵的院內，對我說：「我在便雅憫境內、亞拿突的那塊地，求你買來；因你買來是合乎承受之理，是你當贖的。你為自己買來吧！」我－耶利米就知道這是耶和華的話。

應當歡喜快樂，因為你們在天上的賞賜是大的。在你們以前的先知，人也是這樣逼迫他們。」

耶利米吩咐巴錄說：「我被拘管，不能進耶和華的殿。

因為猶大王西底家已將他囚禁，說：「你為甚麼預言說，耶和華如此說：『我必將這城交在巴比倫王的手中，他必攻取這城。

護衛長尼布撒拉旦和尼布沙斯班－拉撒力、尼甲‧沙利薛－拉墨，並巴比倫王的一切官長，打發人去，將耶利米從護衛兵院中提出來，交與沙番的孫子亞希甘的兒子基大利，帶回家去。於是耶利米住在民中。耶利米還囚在護衛兵院中的時候，耶和華的話臨到他說：
