You show love to thousands but bring the punishment for the parents’ sins into the laps of their children after them. Great and mighty God, whose name is the Lord Almighty,

You show your love to thousands of people. But you cause the sins of parents to affect even their children. Great and powerful God, your name is the Lord Who Rules Over All.

You show steadfast love to thousands, but you repay the guilt of fathers to their children after them, O great and mighty God, whose name is the Lord of hosts,

You show unfailing love to thousands, but you also bring the consequences of one generation’s sin upon the next. You are the great and powerful God, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

You show faithful love to thousands but lay the fathers’ iniquity on their sons’ laps after them, great and mighty God whose name is the LORD of Armies,

who shows mercy to thousands, but repays the wrongdoing of fathers into the laps of their children after them, great and mighty God. The Lord of armies is His name;

The portion of Jacob[ is] not like them: for he[ is] the former of all[ things]; and Israel[ is] the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts[ is] his name.

Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear[ the guilty]; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth[ generation].

But hast done evil above all that were before thee: for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back:Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall,[ and] him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.

Then the word of the LORD came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;Behold, I will take away the posterity of Baasha, and the posterity of his house; and will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day,[ and] the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts[ is] his name:

Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.[ Ye] serpents,[ ye] generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and[ some] of them ye shall kill and crucify; and[ some] of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute[ them] from city to city:That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

Great[ is] the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness[ is] unsearchable.One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.And[ men] shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness.

And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:

Then answered all the people, and said, His blood[ be] on us, and on our children.

The remnant shall return,[ even] the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.

Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God[ is] among you, a mighty God and terrible.

And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.

The LORD[ is] longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing[ the guilty], visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth[ generation].

Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked[ me] to anger, and made Israel to sin.And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.

For the LORD your God[ is] God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:

[ Art] thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.

Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered,[ It is] for Saul, and for[ his] bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them;( now the Gibeonites[ were] not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say,[ that] will I do for you.And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us[ that] we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul,[ whom] the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give[ them].But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD’S oath that[ was] between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD: and they fell[ all] seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first[ days], in the beginning of barley harvest.

For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name[ is] Holy; I dwell in the high and holy[ place], with him also[ that is] of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons, saith the LORD; and I will requite thee in this plat, saith the LORD. Now therefore take[ and] cast him into the plat[ of ground], according to the word of the LORD.

But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty[ God] of Jacob;( from thence[ is] the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
