I have heard Israel saying,‘ You disciplined me severely, like a calf that needs training for the yoke. Turn me again to you and restore me, for you alone are the Lord my God.

我听见以法莲为自己悲叹说：‘你管教我，我便受管教，我如未驯服的牛犊。求你使我回转，我便回转，因为你是耶和华—我的上帝。

我听见以法莲为自己悲叹说：‘你管教我，我便受管教，我如未驯服的牛犊。求你使我回转，我便回转，因为你是耶和华—我的神。

我听见以法莲在为自己悲叹，‘我们就像未经驯服的牛犊，你管教我们，使我们顺服，求你使我们回到你身边，重新复兴，因为你是我们的上帝耶和华。

“我清楚听见以法莲为自己哀叹，说：‘你管教了我，我像一头不驯服的牛犊受管教；求你使我回转，我就得以回转，因为你是耶和华我的神。

我聽見以法蓮為自己悲歎說：你責罰我，我便受責罰，像不慣負軛的牛犢一樣。求你使我回轉，我便回轉，因為你是耶和華－我的神。

我聽見以法蓮為自己悲嘆說：『你管教我，我便受管教，我如未馴服的牛犢。求你使我回轉，我便回轉，因為你是耶和華－我的上帝。

我聽見以法蓮為自己悲嘆說：『你管教我，我便受管教，我如未馴服的牛犢。求你使我回轉，我便回轉，因為你是耶和華－我的神。

我聽見以法蓮在為自己悲歎，『我們就像未經馴服的牛犢，你管教我們，使我們順服，求你使我們回到你身邊，重新復興，因為你是我們的上帝耶和華。

“我清楚聽見以法蓮為自己哀歎，說：‘你管教了我，我像一頭不馴服的牛犢受管教；求你使我回轉，我就得以回轉，因為你是耶和華我的神。

我真地聽見以法蓮在為自己悲歎着說：「你督責了我，我便受督責，像訓練未馴的牛犢一樣；使我返回哦，我便得以返回，因為你是永恆主我的上帝。

我聞以法蓮為己悲歎曰、爾責我、而我受責、我若未習負軛之犢、求爾轉我、我則轉焉、蓋爾乃我之上帝耶和華也、

我聞以法蓮哭曰、昔予如放逸之犢、爾督責予、而我受責、爾耶和華乃我之上帝、俾我悛改。

我聞以法蓮哀哭曰、昔我如不習於負軛不習於負軛或作放逸之犢、主督責我、我受督責、求主俾我悛改、我則悛改、蓋主為我之天主、

“ I have surely heard Ephraim’s moaning:‘ You disciplined me like an unruly calf, and I have been disciplined. Restore me, and I will return, because you are the Lord my God.

“ I have heard the groans of Ephraim’s people. They say,‘ You corrected us like a calf you were training. And we have been trained. Bring us back to you, and we will come back. You are the Lord our God.

I have heard Ephraim grieving,‘ You have disciplined me, and I was disciplined, like an untrained calf; bring me back that I may be restored, for you are the Lord my God.

I have surely heard Ephraim moaning,“ You disciplined me, and I have been disciplined like an untrained calf. Take me back, so that I can return, for you, LORD, are my God.

I have certainly heard Ephraim grieving,‘ You have disciplined me, and I was corrected, Like an untrained calf; Bring me back that I may be restored, For You are the Lord my God.

“ I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself:‘ You have chastised me, and I was chastised, Like an untrained bull; Restore me, and I will return, For You are the Lord my God.

I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus, Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a calf unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art Jehovah my God.

I have heard Ephraim moaning,“ You disciplined me, and I have been disciplined like an untrained calf. Restore me, and I will return, for you, Lord, are my God.

I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself[ thus]; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed[ to the yoke]: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou[ art] the LORD my God.

I have indeed heard the people of Israel say mournfully,‘ We were like a calf untrained to the yoke. You disciplined us and we learned from it. Let us come back to you and we will do so, for you are the LORD our God.

“ I have surely heard Ephraim grieving thus,‘ You have chastised me, and I was chastised, as an untrained calf. Turn me, and I will be turned; for you are Yahweh my God.

Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.

Voices are heard high on the windswept mountains, the weeping and pleading of Israel’s people. For they have chosen crooked paths and have forgotten the Lord their God.“ My wayward children,” says the Lord,“ come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts.”“ Yes, we’re coming,” the people reply,“ for you are the Lord our God.

“ But consider the joy of those corrected by God! Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin.

“ So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.

Turn us again to yourself, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.

Tears of joy will stream down their faces, and I will lead them home with great care. They will walk beside quiet streams and on smooth paths where they will not stumble. For I am Israel’s father, and Ephraim is my oldest child.

O Lord, if you heal me, I will be truly healed; if you save me, I will be truly saved. My praises are for you alone!

Turn us again to yourself, O God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.

Joyful are those you discipline, Lord, those you teach with your instructions.

He will declare to his friends,‘ I sinned and twisted the truth, but it was not worth it.God rescued me from the grave, and now my life is filled with light.’

I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference.

When God raised up his servant, Jesus, he sent him first to you people of Israel, to bless you by turning each of you back from your sinful ways.”

Restore us, O Lord, and bring us back to you again! Give us back the joys we once had!

Lord, you are searching for honesty. You struck your people, but they paid no attention. You crushed them, but they refused to be corrected. They are determined, with faces set like stone; they have refused to repent.

No one can tell it anything; it refuses all correction. It does not trust in the Lord or draw near to its God.

I will destroy Israel as a moth consumes wool. I will make Judah as weak as rotten wood.“ When Israel and Judah saw how sick they were, Israel turned to Assyria— to the great king there— but he could neither help nor cure them.

For after all this punishment, the people will still not repent. They will not seek the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

For your children have fainted and lie in the streets, helpless as antelopes caught in a net. The Lord has poured out his fury; God has rebuked them.

So don’t be misled, my dear brothers and sisters.Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.

His preaching will turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers. Otherwise I will come and strike the land with a curse.”

Rescue me from my rebellion. Do not let fools mock me.I am silent before you; I won’t say a word, for my punishment is from you.

Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.”

The day will come when watchmen will shout from the hill country of Ephraim,‘ Come, let us go up to Jerusalem to worship the Lord our God.’”

And it is good for people to submit at an early age to the yoke of his discipline:Let them sit alone in silence beneath the Lord’s demands.Let them lie face down in the dust, for there may be hope at last.Let them turn the other cheek to those who strike them and accept the insults of their enemies.

Surely you are still our Father! Even if Abraham and Jacob would disown us, Lord, you would still be our Father. You are our Redeemer from ages past.

“ In those coming days,” says the Lord,“ the people of Israel will return home together with the people of Judah. They will come weeping and seeking the Lord their God.They will ask the way to Jerusalem and will start back home again. They will bind themselves to the Lord with an eternal covenant that will never be forgotten.

I know, O Lord, that your regulations are fair; you disciplined me because I needed it.

“ I have punished your children, but they did not respond to my discipline. You yourselves have killed your prophets as a lion kills its prey.

“ Israel is like a trained heifer treading out the grain— an easy job she loves. But I will put a heavy yoke on her tender neck. I will force Judah to pull the plow and Israel to break up the hard ground.

Israel is stubborn, like a stubborn heifer. So should the Lord feed her like a lamb in a lush pasture?

Let us now lie down in shame and cover ourselves with dishonor, for we and our ancestors have sinned against the Lord our God. From our childhood to this day we have never obeyed him.”

He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth.

And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said,“ My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you.

Why do you continue to invite punishment? Must you rebel forever? Your head is injured, and your heart is sick.

My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you.

He will be a man with the spirit and power of Elijah. He will prepare the people for the coming of the Lord. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and he will cause those who are rebellious to accept the wisdom of the godly.”

The Lord says,“ Then I will heal you of your faithlessness; my love will know no bounds, for my anger will be gone forever.I will be to Israel like a refreshing dew from heaven. Israel will blossom like the lily; it will send roots deep into the soil like the cedars in Lebanon.Its branches will spread out like beautiful olive trees, as fragrant as the cedars of Lebanon.My people will again live under my shade. They will flourish like grain and blossom like grapevines. They will be as fragrant as the wines of Lebanon.“ O Israel, stay away from idols! I am the one who answers your prayers and cares for you. I am like a tree that is always green; all your fruit comes from me.”

The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this:“ I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.For I will not fight against you forever; I will not always be angry. If I were, all people would pass away— all the souls I have made.I was angry, so I punished these greedy people. I withdrew from them, but they kept going on their own stubborn way.I have seen what they do, but I will heal them anyway! I will lead them. I will comfort those who mourn,

Guide a horse with a whip, a donkey with a bridle, and a fool with a rod to his back!

Tell them the Lord looked down from his heavenly sanctuary. He looked down to earth from heavento hear the groans of the prisoners, to release those condemned to die.

Then I will return to my place until they admit their guilt and turn to me. For as soon as trouble comes, they will earnestly search for me.”“ Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces; now he will heal us. He has injured us; now he will bandage our wounds.In just a short time he will restore us, so that we may live in his presence.

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

Whoever stubbornly refuses to accept criticism will suddenly be destroyed beyond recovery.

“ Oh, how can I give you up, Israel? How can I let you go? How can I destroy you like Admah or demolish you like Zeboiim? My heart is torn within me, and my compassion overflows.No, I will not unleash my fierce anger. I will not completely destroy Israel, for I am God and not a mere mortal. I am the Holy One living among you, and I will not come to destroy.

Now restore us again, O God of our salvation. Put aside your anger against us once more.
