I have surely heard Ephraim moaning,“ You disciplined me, and I have been disciplined like an untrained calf. Take me back, so that I can return, for you, LORD, are my God.

我听见以法莲为自己悲叹说：‘你管教我，我便受管教，我如未驯服的牛犊。求你使我回转，我便回转，因为你是耶和华—我的神。

我听见以法莲在为自己悲叹，‘我们就像未经驯服的牛犊，你管教我们，使我们顺服，求你使我们回到你身边，重新复兴，因为你是我们的上帝耶和华。

“我清楚听见以法莲为自己哀叹，说：‘你管教了我，我像一头不驯服的牛犊受管教；求你使我回转，我就得以回转，因为你是耶和华我的神。

我聽見以法蓮在為自己悲歎，『我們就像未經馴服的牛犢，你管教我們，使我們順服，求你使我們回到你身邊，重新復興，因為你是我們的上帝耶和華。

“我清楚聽見以法蓮為自己哀歎，說：‘你管教了我，我像一頭不馴服的牛犢受管教；求你使我回轉，我就得以回轉，因為你是耶和華我的神。

我真地聽見以法蓮在為自己悲歎着說：「你督責了我，我便受督責，像訓練未馴的牛犢一樣；使我返回哦，我便得以返回，因為你是永恆主我的上帝。

我聞以法蓮為己悲歎曰、爾責我、而我受責、我若未習負軛之犢、求爾轉我、我則轉焉、蓋爾乃我之上帝耶和華也、

我聞以法蓮哭曰、昔予如放逸之犢、爾督責予、而我受責、爾耶和華乃我之上帝、俾我悛改。

我聞以法蓮哀哭曰、昔我如不習於負軛不習於負軛或作放逸之犢、主督責我、我受督責、求主俾我悛改、我則悛改、蓋主為我之天主、

“ I have surely heard Ephraim’s moaning:‘ You disciplined me like an unruly calf, and I have been disciplined. Restore me, and I will return, because you are the Lord my God.

“ I have heard the groans of Ephraim’s people. They say,‘ You corrected us like a calf you were training. And we have been trained. Bring us back to you, and we will come back. You are the Lord our God.

I have heard Ephraim grieving,‘ You have disciplined me, and I was disciplined, like an untrained calf; bring me back that I may be restored, for you are the Lord my God.

I have heard Israel saying,‘ You disciplined me severely, like a calf that needs training for the yoke. Turn me again to you and restore me, for you alone are the Lord my God.

I have certainly heard Ephraim grieving,‘ You have disciplined me, and I was corrected, Like an untrained calf; Bring me back that I may be restored, For You are the Lord my God.

“ I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself:‘ You have chastised me, and I was chastised, Like an untrained bull; Restore me, and I will return, For You are the Lord my God.

I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus, Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a calf unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art Jehovah my God.

I have heard Ephraim moaning,“ You disciplined me, and I have been disciplined like an untrained calf. Restore me, and I will return, for you, Lord, are my God.

I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself[ thus]; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed[ to the yoke]: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou[ art] the LORD my God.

I have indeed heard the people of Israel say mournfully,‘ We were like a calf untrained to the yoke. You disciplined us and we learned from it. Let us come back to you and we will do so, for you are the LORD our God.

“ I have surely heard Ephraim grieving thus,‘ You have chastised me, and I was chastised, as an untrained calf. Turn me, and I will be turned; for you are Yahweh my God.

Restore us, God; make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.

A sound is heard on the barren heights: the children of Israel weeping and begging for mercy, for they have perverted their way; they have forgotten the LORD their God.Return, you faithless children. I will heal your unfaithfulness.“ Here we are, coming to you, for you are the LORD our God.

See how happy is the person whom God corrects; so do not reject the discipline of the Almighty.

So he got up and went to his father. But while the son was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran, threw his arms around his neck, and kissed him.

Restore us, LORD, God of Armies; make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.

They will come weeping, but I will bring them back with consolation. I will lead them to wadis filled with water, by a smooth way where they will not stumble, for I am Israel’s Father, and Ephraim is my firstborn.

Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved, for you are my praise.

Restore us, God of Armies; make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.

LORD, how happy is anyone you discipline and teach from your law

He will look at men and say,“ I have sinned and perverted what was right; yet I did not get what I deserved.He redeemed my soul from going down to the Pit, and I will continue to see the light.”

As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be zealous and repent.

God raised up his servant and sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your evil ways.”

LORD, bring us back to yourself, so we may return; renew our days as in former times,

LORD, don’t your eyes look for faithfulness? You have struck them, but they felt no pain. You finished them off, but they refused to accept discipline. They made their faces harder than rock, and they refused to return.

She has not obeyed; she has not accepted discipline. She has not trusted in the LORD; she has not drawn near to her God.

So I am like rot to Ephraim and like decay to the house of Judah.When Ephraim saw his sickness and Judah his wound, Ephraim went to Assyria and sent a delegation to the great king. But he cannot cure you or heal your wound.

The people did not turn to him who struck them; they did not seek the LORD of Armies.

Your children have fainted; they lie at the head of every street like an antelope in a net. They are full of the LORD’s fury, the rebuke of your God.

Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters.Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.By his own choice, he gave us birth by the word of truth so that we would be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers. Otherwise, I will come and strike the land with a curse.”

Rescue me from all my transgressions; do not make me the taunt of fools.I am speechless; I do not open my mouth because of what you have done.

Do not be like a horse or mule, without understanding, that must be controlled with bit and bridle or else it will not come near you.

For there will be a day when watchmen will call out in the hill country of Ephraim,“ Come, let’s go up to Zion, to the LORD our God!”

It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is still young.Let him sit alone and be silent, for God has disciplined him.Let him put his mouth in the dust— perhaps there is still hope.Let him offer his cheek to the one who would strike him; let him be filled with disgrace.

Yet you are our Father, even though Abraham does not know us and Israel doesn’t recognize us. You, LORD, are our Father; your name is Our Redeemer from Ancient Times.

In those days and at that time— this is the LORD’s declaration— the Israelites and Judeans will come together, weeping as they come, and will seek the LORD their God.They will ask about Zion, turning their faces to this road. They will come and join themselves to the LORD in a permanent covenant that will never be forgotten.

I know, LORD, that your judgments are just and that you have afflicted me fairly.

I have struck down your children in vain; they would not accept discipline. Your own sword has devoured your prophets like a ravaging lion.

Ephraim is a well-trained calf that loves to thresh, but I will place a yoke on her fine neck. I will harness Ephraim; Judah will plow; Jacob will do the final plowing.

For Israel is as obstinate as a stubborn cow. Can the LORD now shepherd them like a lamb in an open meadow?

Let us lie down in our shame; let our disgrace cover us. We have sinned against the LORD our God, both we and our ancestors, from the time of our youth even to this day. We have not obeyed the LORD our God.”

He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth. Like a lamb led to the slaughter and like a sheep silent before her shearers, he did not open his mouth.

And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons: My son, do not take the Lord’s discipline lightly or lose heart when you are reproved by him,

Why do you want more beatings? Why do you keep on rebelling? The whole head is hurt, and the whole heart is sick.

Do not despise the LORD’s instruction, my son, and do not loathe his discipline;

And he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the disobedient to the understanding of the righteous, to make ready for the Lord a prepared people.”

I will heal their apostasy; I will freely love them, for my anger will have turned from him.I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like the lily and take root like the cedars of Lebanon.His new branches will spread, and his splendor will be like the olive tree, his fragrance, like the forest of Lebanon.The people will return and live beneath his shade. They will grow grain and blossom like the vine. His renown will be like the wine of Lebanon.Ephraim, why should I have anything more to do with idols? It is I who answer and watch over him. I am like a flourishing pine tree; your fruit comes from me.

For the High and Exalted One, who lives forever, whose name is holy, says this:“ I live in a high and holy place, and with the oppressed and lowly of spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and revive the heart of the oppressed.For I will not accuse you forever, and I will not always be angry; for then the spirit would grow weak before me, even the breath, which I have made.Because of his sinful greed I was angry, so I struck him; I was angry and hid; but he went on turning back to the desires of his heart.I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners,

A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the backs of fools.

He looked down from his holy heights— the LORD gazed out from heaven to earth—to hear a prisoner’s groaning, to set free those condemned to die,

I will depart and return to my place until they recognize their guilt and seek my face; they will search for me in their distress.Come, let’s return to the LORD. For he has torn us, and he will heal us; he has wounded us, and he will bind up our wounds.He will revive us after two days, and on the third day he will raise us up so we can live in his presence.

For it is God who is working in you both to will and to work according to his good purpose.

One who becomes stiff-necked, after many reprimands will be shattered instantly— beyond recovery.

How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I surrender you, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboiim? I have had a change of heart; my compassion is stirred!I will not vent the full fury of my anger; I will not turn back to destroy Ephraim. For I am God and not man, the Holy One among you; I will not come in rage.

Return to us, God of our salvation, and abandon your displeasure with us.
