Those who have been ransomed by the Lord will return. They will enter Jerusalem singing, crowned with everlasting joy. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be filled with joy and gladness.

The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well watered garden, like an ever flowing spring.

I will rejoice over Jerusalem and delight in my people. And the sound of weeping and crying will be heard in it no more.

So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy.

It will become a majestic cedar, sending forth its branches and producing seed. Birds of every sort will nest in it, finding shelter in the shade of its branches.

In that day the mountains will drip with sweet wine, and the hills will flow with milk. Water will fill the streambeds of Judah, and a fountain will burst forth from the Lord’s Temple, watering the arid valley of acacias.

But afterward the people will return and devote themselves to the Lord their God and to David’s descendant, their king. In the last days, they will tremble in awe of the Lord and of his goodness.

For the Lamb on the throne will be their Shepherd. He will lead them to springs of life giving water. And God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”

Your sun will never set; your moon will not go down. For the Lord will be your everlasting light. Your days of mourning will come to an end.

In that day you will sing:“ I will praise you, O Lord! You were angry with me, but not anymore. Now you comfort me.See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.”With joy you will drink deeply from the fountain of salvation!In that wonderful day you will sing:“ Thank the Lord! Praise his name! Tell the nations what he has done. Let them know how mighty he is!Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things. Make known his praise around the world.Let all the people of Jerusalem shout his praise with joy! For great is the Holy One of Israel who lives among you.”

In the last days, the mountain of the Lord’s house will be the highest of all— the most important place on earth. It will be raised above the other hills, and people from all over the world will stream there to worship.People from many nations will come and say,“ Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of Jacob’s God. There he will teach us his ways, and we will walk in his paths.” For the Lord’s teaching will go out from Zion; his word will go out from Jerusalem.The Lord will mediate between nations and will settle international disputes. They will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will no longer fight against nation, nor train for war anymore.Come, descendants of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord!

Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?

I will rebuild you, my virgin Israel. You will again be happy and dance merrily with your tambourines.

But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you.

Then this city will bring me joy, glory, and honor before all the nations of the earth! The people of the world will see all the good I do for my people, and they will tremble with awe at the peace and prosperity I provide for them.“ This is what the Lord says: You have said,‘ This is a desolate land where people and animals have all disappeared.’ Yet in the empty streets of Jerusalem and Judah’s other towns, there will be heard once morethe sounds of joy and laughter. The joyful voices of bridegrooms and brides will be heard again, along with the joyous songs of people bringing thanksgiving offerings to the Lord. They will sing,‘ Give thanks to the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, for the Lord is good. His faithful love endures forever!’ For I will restore the prosperity of this land to what it was in the past, says the Lord.

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies will protect his people, and they will defeat their enemies by hurling great stones. They will shout in battle as though drunk with wine. They will be filled with blood like a bowl, drenched with blood like the corners of the altar.On that day the Lord their God will rescue his people, just as a shepherd rescues his sheep. They will sparkle in his land like jewels in a crown.How wonderful and beautiful they will be! The young men will thrive on abundant grain, and the young women will flourish on new wine.

I will be faithful to you and make you mine, and you will finally know me as the Lord.“ In that day, I will answer,” says the Lord.“ I will answer the sky as it pleads for clouds.
