All the nations will stream to it,many peoples will come and say,“ Come, let us go up to the LORD’s mountain, to the temple of the God of Jacob, so he can teach us his requirements, and we can follow his standards.” For Zion will be the center for moral instruction; the LORD will issue edicts from Jerusalem.He will judge disputes between nations; he will settle cases for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nations will not take up the sword against other nations, and they will no longer train for war.O descendants of Jacob, come, let us walk in the LORD’s guiding light.

Or do you have contempt for the wealth of his kindness, forbearance, and patience, and yet do not know that God’s kindness leads you to repentance?

I will rebuild you, my dear children Israel, so that you will once again be built up. Once again you will take up the tambourine and join in the happy throng of dancers.

But you are willing to forgive, so that you might be honored.

All the nations will hear about all the good things which I will do to them. This city will bring me fame, honor, and praise before them for the joy that I bring it. The nations will tremble in awe at all the peace and prosperity that I will provide for it.’“ I, the LORD, say:‘ You and your people are saying about this place,“ It lies in ruins. There are no people or animals in it.” That is true. The towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem will soon be desolate, uninhabited either by people or by animals. But happy sounds will again be heard in these places.Once again there will be sounds of joy and gladness and the glad celebrations of brides and grooms. Once again people will bring their thank offerings to the temple of the LORD and will say,“ Give thanks to the LORD who rules over all. For the LORD is good and his unfailing love lasts forever.” For I, the LORD, affirm that I will restore the land to what it was in days of old.’

The LORD who rules over all will guard them, and they will prevail and overcome with sling stones. Then they will drink, and will become noisy like drunkards, full like the sacrificial basin or like the corners of the altar.On that day the LORD their God will deliver them as the flock of his people, for they are the precious stones of a crown sparkling over his land.How precious and fair! Grain will make the young men flourish and new wine the young women.

I will commit myself to you in faithfulness; then you will acknowledge the LORD.”“ At that time, I will willingly respond,” declares the LORD.“ I will respond to the sky, and the sky will respond to the ground;then the ground will respond to the grain, the new wine, and the olive oil; and they will respond to‘ God Plants’( Jezreel)!Then I will plant her as my own in the land. I will have pity on‘ No Pity’( Lo-Ruhamah). I will say to‘ Not My People’( Lo-Ammi),‘ You are my people!’ And he will say,‘ You are my God!’”

In the future the LORD’s Temple Mount will be the most important mountain of all; it will be more prominent than other hills. People will stream to it.Many nations will come, saying,“ Come on! Let’s go up to the LORD’s mountain, to the temple of Jacob’s God, so he can teach us his commands and we can live by his laws.” For Zion will be the source of instruction; the LORD’s teachings will proceed from Jerusalem.

For you will be like a tree whose leaves wither, like an orchard that is unwatered.
