Ask and see: Can a man bear children? Then why do I see every strong man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor, every face turned deathly pale?

Ask and see. Can a man give birth to children? Then why do I see every strong man with his hands on his stomach? Each of them is acting like a woman having a baby. Every face is as pale as death.

Ask now, and see, can a man bear a child? Why then do I see every man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor? Why has every face turned pale?

Now let me ask you a question: Do men give birth to babies? Then why do they stand there, ashen faced, hands pressed against their sides like a woman in labor?

Ask now, and see whether a man travails with child. Why do I see every man with his hands on his waist, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned pale?

空空如也，空空、荒蕪！人人膽戰心驚，雙膝軟顫，腰都扭轉難過，臉都失色變青！

在牠們面前、眾族人都翻騰難過，大家臉都失色發暗。

因為我聽見有聲音、像婦人翻騰絞痛的聲音，彷彿生頭胎孩子產難的聲音，是錫安子民的聲音；她喘着氣，挓挱着手，說：『哦，我有禍了！在殺人者跟前、我的心發昏了。』

生產的疼痛必臨到他身上，但他是個毫無智慧之子；到了產期他還是遲延於子宮口。

我們聽見他們的風聲，手就發軟；產難的感覺將我們抓住，我們掙扎疼痛像生產的婦人。

在那裏戰兢抓住了他們；他們掙扎難過、像產難的婦人一樣。

故此我滿腰絞痛難過；劇疼將我抓住，如同產婦的劇疼一樣；我疼痛彎腰到不能聽；我驚惶失措到看不見。

住利巴嫩、在香柏樹中搭窩的啊，有劇疼要臨到你，像攪絞疼痛臨到生產的婦人，那時你會怎樣唉哼啊！

人正說平安穩妥的時候，就在那時、突來的死滅就臨到他們了——正如產難臨到懷孕的婦人一樣——他們斷不能逃脫。

婦人生產的時候有憂愁，因為她的鐘點到了；既生了孩子，就不再記念那苦難了，因為歡喜有人生到世界上來。那麼你們現今呢、也有憂愁；但我要再見你們，你們的心就歡喜了；並且你們的喜樂、誰也不能奪去。

哀號哦！因為永恆主的日子臨近了；這日子必來到，就像毁滅出於毁滅者。故此人的手都必發軟，人都必膽戰心驚；他們都要驚惶失措。疼痛和劇疼必將他們抓住；他們必翻騰絞痛、像生產的婦人一樣；他們相顧駭愕，臉上都顯着劇疼的氣色。看吧，永恆主的日子來到，必有殘忍、震怒和烈怒，使這地荒涼，並從其中除滅重罪的人。

因此那贖救亞伯拉罕的永恆主、雅各家的上帝這麼說：『雅各今後必不再失望了，他的臉面今後必不再蒼白了。

『巴比倫王聽見這風聲，手就發軟；產難的感覺將他抓住，他掙扎疼痛像生產的婦人。

如今呢、你為甚麼大聲哭號呢？難道你中間竟沒有王，或是你的謀士都滅亡了，以致產痛抓住了你、像抓住了生產的婦人麼？錫安小姐啊，絞痛而衝出、像生產的婦人吧！因為你如今快要從這都市出來，住在野外，去到巴比倫；在那裏你必得援救，在那裏永恆主必贖回你脫離你仇敵的手掌。

王就變了氣色，他的思想使他驚惶；他的腰骨好像脫了節，雙膝直彼此相碰。

大馬色衰弱，轉身逃跑；震顫恐慌將她捉住；災難痛苦緊抓着她，如生產的婦人一樣。

他們立你自己所慣視為良友的為首來轄制你，那你還有甚麼話說呢？痛苦豈不將你抓住，像抓住生產的婦人一樣呢？
