使世人都知道我耶和華已拔刀出鞘，不再收回。』人子啊，你要在他們面前哀歎，要傷心欲絕地哀歎。如果有人問你為什麼哀歎，你就說有噩耗傳來，聽見的人都膽戰心驚、兩手發軟、精神萎靡、膝弱如水。災難必很快發生。這是主耶和華說的。」

你要對南地的樹林說，『你要聽耶和華的話。主耶和華說，我要在你那裡燃起火來，燒毀你所有的青樹和枯樹。這不熄的烈火要從南到北燒焦一切。這樣，世人便知道這烈火是我耶和華點燃的，它絕不會熄滅。』」

但天上的上帝能揭開奧秘，祂已把將來要發生的事告訴了王。王啊，你在床上夢見了將來的事，揭開奧秘的上帝已把將來的事指示給你。上帝將王做的夢啟示給我，並非因為我的智慧勝過其他人，而是要讓王知道夢的意思和王的心事。以下是王在床上做的夢和腦中出現的異象。

萬軍之耶和華起誓說：「我的計劃必實現，我的旨意必成就。

我從東方召來鷙鳥，從遙遠的地方召人來成就我的計劃。我言出必行，必成就自己的計劃。

這是我對全世界所定的計劃，是向列國伸出的懲罰之手。」萬軍之耶和華定了計劃，誰能阻撓呢？祂的手已經伸出，誰能叫祂收回呢？

我知道，我死後你們會徹底墮落，偏離我吩咐你們行的道，做耶和華視為惡的事，惹祂發怒，將來禍患必臨到你們。」

到時候，我要應驗我說的有關以利家的一切預言。

為此，你們要腰束麻布，嚎啕大哭，因為耶和華向我們發的烈怒還沒有止息。

日後，當你們遭遇這些事，受盡苦難的時候，必歸向你們的上帝耶和華，聽從祂。

雅各把他的兒子們都叫來，對他們說：「你們到我身邊來，我要把你們將來的遭遇告訴你們。
