但天上的上帝能揭开奥秘，祂已把将来要发生的事告诉了王。王啊，你在床上梦见了将来的事，揭开奥秘的上帝已把将来的事指示给你。上帝将王做的梦启示给我，并非因为我的智慧胜过其他人，而是要让王知道梦的意思和王的心事。以下是王在床上做的梦和脑中出现的异象。

万军之耶和华起誓说：“我的计划必实现，我的旨意必成就。

我从东方召来鸷鸟，从遥远的地方召人来成就我的计划。我言出必行，必成就自己的计划。

这是我对全世界所定的计划，是向列国伸出的惩罚之手。”万军之耶和华定了计划，谁能阻挠呢？祂的手已经伸出，谁能叫祂收回呢？

我知道，我死后你们会彻底堕落，偏离我吩咐你们行的道，做耶和华视为恶的事，惹祂发怒，将来祸患必临到你们。”

到时候，我要应验我说的有关以利家的一切预言。

为此，你们要腰束麻布，嚎啕大哭，因为耶和华向我们发的烈怒还没有止息。

日后，当你们遭遇这些事，受尽苦难的时候，必归向你们的上帝耶和华，听从祂。
